Upstart electric vehicle maker Coda Automotive has inked a new partnership with China’s Great Wall Motors. The California-based EV maker is planning to use Great Wall’s global network to sell its electric vehicles worldwide.
“With an extensive line of vehicles, and the leading Chinese manufacturer selling in volume in the European Union — as well as (in) more than 120 countries globally — our collaboration will enable us to provide our respective customers with a broad selection of high-performing and affordable electric vehicles globally,” Coda’s CEO, Phil Murtaugh, said in a statement.
Coda has yet to sell a single vehicle but hopes to have its four-door electric sedan on the market by year’s end. The EV sedan promises a 120-mile range and an 8-year, 100,000 mile battery warranty.
Coda applied for a $500 million Department of Energy loan over a year ago to build a battery factory in Columbus, Ohio, but the automaker is still waiting on a final ruling.
