Tesla ’s legal headaches just got thrice as big, thanks to a former employee. The electric sports car maker’s one-time Director of Public Relations, David Vespremi, who feels he’s been let go for the wrong reasons and is doing something about it.
The plaintiffs’ lawsuit, filed in a San Mateo County court in California, implies Tesla Motors did not practice good faith or fair dealing in its business practices, further accusing the company of violating labor codes by not paying wages and making employees wait for them. To add insult to injury, Vespremi and others say libel and slander applies as well, due to the way executives spoke to the media about the company’s former employees.
The company went on a firing binge late in 2007, because of bad work habits and mismanagement, said Tesla VP Darryl Siry. The trimming included Tesla founder Martin Eberhard.
