Chrysler ’s Windsor, Ontario assembly plant was rocked by an explosion at about 12:30pm today. The plant, which produces Chrysler’s minivans, caught fire soon after the explosion was heard.
Although details remain scarce at this point — including the cause of the explosion — eyewitnesses say the explosion was followed by fire and large plumes of black smoke.

A section of Drouillard Road was closed as fire and rescue teams responded to the blaze.

Update:
Just before 5:00pm, workers were allowed back into the Windsor assembly plant after the fire had been extinguished. Reports indicate that a vehicle on the repair line caught fire, but workers were able to control the fire. No injuries have been reported.
