Explosion, fire rocks Chrysler’s Windsor assembly plant

03/10/2008, 2:38 PM

By Drew Johnson

Chrysler’s Windsor, Ontario assembly plant was rocked by an explosion at about 12:30pm today. The plant, which produces Chrysler’s minivans, caught fire soon after the explosion was heard.

Although details remain scarce at this point — including the cause of the explosion — eyewitnesses say the explosion was followed by fire and large plumes of black smoke.

A section of Drouillard Road was closed as fire and rescue teams responded to the blaze.

Update:
Just before 5:00pm, workers were allowed back into the Windsor assembly plant after the fire had been extinguished. Reports indicate that a vehicle on the repair line caught fire, but workers were able to control the fire. No injuries have been reported.

Maybe the Chryslers produced whilst the plant is burning will be of better quality.

So you like the idea of something potentially injuring American workers and depriving Americans of jobs? You know what they say, ignorance is bliss.

Yeah, Windsor Ontario, so not so much American workers as Canadian workers, unless some travel across the Detroit River to work there. I wonder how that works with the Unions? Still hopefully there are no fatalities. Well I’ll probably hear about it on the evening news anyways.

This is so strange to hear about this happening only hours after I read the article earlier this morning about threats to the Belvidere plant. Watch this one guys, my money is on arson this doesn’t sound like an accident.

I can’t imagine anyone in their right mind buying such an fugly piece of ****e. But hey, there is a sucker born every minute. Enjoy replacing your transmission at 30k miles, and replacing your gaskets at 60k. Oh, and it won’t be till the 4th revision that they get the idle wheel right.

If there is any American company that deserves to die, it is Chrysler. If I can just pin it on one reason, it is the Neon, ’nuff said. And this time, the damn government better let it happen.

IF it’s a Union plant, I say they should have let it burn. Let those bastards find another job in the “real world” so they can appreciate what they have a little more.

LP shut up. Deanster I thought you were intelligent. But making a comment like we’re stupid for being in a IRAQ that celebrated the day after our twin towers fell in NYC is foolish. We needed to go over and show these people we don’t take the homegrown terrorist threats lightly and that is why we remove Sadam Hussein from Power and his terrorist training camps.

We need to divide up IRAQ the way we did GErmany then we can leave. These various sect hate each other but more than that they hate us. And what the rest of the world to live in fear of them. No they had better fear us and for good reason. That is why I am Voting for John McCain for President he cares about the people of this country NOt the Whimp Hillary Clinton who never put her life on the line for her country or even Barack Obama for that matter. I served my country honorably.

Deanster you sound like your an UK Bloke. Is that right mate? Or are you Australian or South African? Just wondered.

Anyway I appreciate that rebuttal. I admit the Iraq occupation won’t be an easy win. However, if we leave that country in Chaos the way old Bitch or Obama would like us to do; then IRAQ would implode and mass killings would continue. Plus those who said Bush did’nt find WMD don’t worry their next door neighbor Iran would gladly give the info after they put one together themselves! So don’t think we can let off the offensive against these insurgents, and what were doing. And their are alot of Dunderheads in our Military. I can open my mouth because I served, but I support our mission.

If you thought Stripes was a joke you should try the real thing.

But Hillary Clinton by Far is the Biggest Dunderhead we have in our country right now. We need some sanity with John McCain in November. The Clinton’s Suck period ..hey Autonut we may not agree on brand name cars we like to buy but we can at least agree but Clinton’s not only Suck but both are complete LIARS both Under, over, Underneath of Oath. Would’nt trust a word that came out of their mouthes!

Furthermore, I don’t trust someone that isn’nt willing to put their life on the line the way I or many other american armed forced veterans have.

IF many americans had the their way; then Serving your Country should be put into LAW if you want to run for the Presidency. NO OTHER WAY! Period. IF you did not serve your country in HARMS WAY you can NOT RUN for President of the United States of America. That should be the law.

And don’t let her fool you with that she was on the Armed Services Committee- her libertine group put her up to that to say she’s qualified. BFD nobody gives a rats ass about some phony committee.
Get Your Ass front and center So called Senator Clinton and march on to chow! And then straight to the Front Lines. I tell you what she’d turn yellow way before that turn tail and run for it!
