Farbio GTS

British automaker Farbio announced that it has started production of its GTS sports car. Underpinned by a space framed chassis and an all carbon fiber body, the GTS weighs between 2300 and 2345 pounds and is powered by a 3.0L V6. The GTS costs between £60,000 and £75,000.

The Farbio GTS comes in naturally aspirated and supercharged form. The NA GTS produces 262 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. The supercharger adds 122 horsepower, yet only 45 lbs, to the base GTS — totaling 384 — and improves 0-60 acceleration to just 3.9 seconds.

The GTS’ interior features leather and Alcantara, a navigation system and Sparco seats that provide enough room for a 6′6” driver.

LOL I thought it was the Fabio GTS when I first read it.

As for the car, it looks like a cross between a Ferrari and a Lotus

is this front or mid engine layout? Numbers look impressive so far…this thing should handle like it’s on rails since it’s light…let’s see what the suspension setup is and what kind of brakes they’ll slap on this badboy

Seriously this doesnt do anything new or better than the competition does it?

Not that the car is that outrageous…but based on the article, the new/better than the competition part looks to be the price. 60-70k GBP is pretty cheap for a car of this performance level…especially considering that cars in the UK are usually considerably more expensive than in other markets.

In Britain they don’t pronounce their “R’s”. So, technically, it is the Fabio.

Well….it’s different, sort of. As some of you said, it doesn’t really break any new ground. It’s kind of generic looking to me, except for that backwards scoop behind the front wheels.

I keep hearing about all these “boutique” car builders, who have “just started production”, and I always wonder just how many–if any–cars they actually sell. Maybe it’s still possible for a newbie in the car business to sell cars in Europe.

I still think that a Corvette–for the money–is awfully hard to beat. It’s really fast, it looks great, it gets (relatively) great gas mileage, and it’s civilized enough to actually use as transportation. Pretty hard to beat for 50K US dollars.

^^ I still think the Vette deserves a better interior, they been building the car for 50 years, you think there would be a lil bit more “passion” put into it, thats what it really needs. The performance is great I’m not gonna deny that, all that needs to be tinkered is the interior, and the exterior could be a lil crisper. Once that happens I’d probably get one.

I thought this company was called “Farboud”, not “Farbio”. I sure hope it is still called Farboud, because I would never buy anything called a Farbio.

///m - passion? I think the corvette has more passion than any car in its price range. Only the viper might beat it “passion”-wise.

It is a front engine - there is luggage in the back. The backwards scoops completely destroy the design flow.

@ Thrith, it’s mid-engine not front, much like the old Toyota MR2 had a rear trunk behind the engine bay so does this car.

Nice lines, but for $130-140K Maserati coupe wins hands down. Here is the math problem: “when Maserati and Farbio will break down on the side of the road at the same time, which one will get tow trackfaster?”

If I had the money to buy this, I would rather go with a Corvette ZR-1, Maserati Gran Turismo, or Audi R8. This thing is just too ugly, and slightly under powered, but I guess what it lacks in power it makes up for in weight.

Scott Kempton, I agree, the Corvette is the best for the money. Any of them, base, Z06, and upcoming ZR-1. I think these companies may sell their cars if they have a name behind them like Pagani or are just amazing cars for the money, but otherwise, I don’t know. I guess the good ones sell and may one day come to the status of the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini, and the rest die. I don’t see why anyone would make these cars if there was no market though, so they probably all sell at least a few.

Who is Fabio, are you referring to the male model from the 90’s that you all had a crush on in junior school? What a bunch off bottom burglars you are. Bryce, there is a big difference between Farbio and Fabio in real English.
.
This is a tough market segment to try to break into, the pricing puts it right into 911 territory and despite the impressive weight and performance I can’t see it working out. The design just isn’t cohesive enough to break into a segment with such high expectations.
