The annual Concours d’Elegance that takes place in Pebble Beach, California, each August draws what is likely the most dedicated and wealthy car enthusiasts in the world to enjoy the display of countless timeless automotive masterpieces from the past.

But while most of the festivities were focused on the past, Ferrari was intent on looking to the future when it privately unveiled a 599 Spyder to a group of purists. The lucky few who witnessed this one-off car were asked to sign non-disclosure agreements and turned in their cell phones and cameras before seeing the car, and according to Autoblog who confirmed details of the event and car, the vehicle was a true soft top convertible.

The car will reportedly manage to retain the same weight as the 599 GTB Coupe, and will feature the engine from the 599 GTO and carry an expected premium over both aforementioned models. Ferrari reportedly intends to only offer this ultra rare roadster with 100 examples – most, if not all of which will likely be spoken for before the vehicle is even made official by the Italian exotic automaker.

According to attendees of the reveal speaking in anonymity, the vehicle may be released as soon as summer 2011.
