If Ferrari builds a 100,000 model, they will probably steal a lot of buyers of Mercedes sl500, Porsche 911, Jaguar xk, Audi R8, maybe even Corvette customers of which a lot of them can actually afford to spend more might go for it. They should build it even if there is a waiting list for other models.. Aren’t companies suppose to make as much money as they can, I don’t think it will devalue their brand.

Blakkarr: The moment it becomes public property you can bet they’ll make a huge factory and triple production to meet the demand. Which is not a bad thing actually as new Ferraris go for 100-200K over MSRP.

I would have thought that Maserati would have been the “Chevrolet” to Ferrari’s “Cadillac”, but if there is some perceived need to build a Ferrari in reach of the only “merely rich” then so be it.

It was bound to happen eventually after Maestro Enzo died. I mean look and the Enzo (the car), the man would not let a car that hideous pass except “over his dead body”. Guess what?

Ferrari is becoming a public business and not a family business. I bet the IPO will go for $500 a share or more.

I hope they never build an “affordable” Ferrari. That will totally ruin the image of the car with a bunch of wannabees cruising around in their financed with minimum downpayment rides thinking they are now part of the elite class. This is the problem Porsche has with all the posers driving around in their leased Boxsters thinking they rule the road. Thats why I love shutting them down in my modded WRX wagon with 2 mountainbikes on the roof rack.

I’ve often thought of an even bigger blasphemy:
Buy a cheap Ferrari 308 and replace the engine with a 3.2L Acura V6. You’ld get the same power with phenominally better reliability and fuel economy.

I think Ferrari is trying to land the components that will work best at a price to compete with Porsche. It shouldn’t be hard but they may have to get used to the notice of not scratch developing every thing going into the car. Besides they have one heck of a parts bin.. uhm… gallery. It shouldn’t be hard.

At 90K euros Ferrari will be getting into Porsche territory. If Ferrari is concerned about technology it wouldn’t make sense for them to build it. The GT3s and 911 Turbos of the world have a lot of technology in them. A handicapped Ferrari will look ridiculous next to those two monsters.

I had thought thats where the Alfa Romeo was going to fit in. But then the 8C came out and it was $250K. So much for that.
An Lotus elise type competitor would be sweet. Pure, light, durable nothing extra.
Either way unless it helps Ferrari subsidize its racing programs they wont do it.

The thought of Ferrari making a low cost car, just compromises everything that montezemolo and Ferrari are all about. Quality would have to be sacraficed, and I cant see that happening.
