You guys are missing the point. To a Ferrari owner the worst thing about the car is having to fill up gas so often losing the time of the day. The cost of the fuel itself isn't an issue. I agree that Ferrari should be thinking about turbo V6's...

That depends on what Ferrari comes up with, assuming they do come up with something. I would love to see what kind of a hybrid a high end sports car maker like FERRARI, PORSCHE, or LAMBORGHINI can put together.

Buying a hybrid Ferrari is like buying a Rolex without needles; It still works, but loses the reason to buy it.

If I were dropping 250 large on a Ferrari, that pretty much sums it up. I am worried about ME, not everybody else. Ferrari owners (I personally know three people that own Ferraris) are not terribly concerned about CO2, or NOX, and certainly don't buy into Al Gore's global warming hoax. Turbo 6 in a Ferrari. Don't do it. Lambo will laugh at Ferrari for 100 years.

Good for Ferrari. Expanding its Engines is a great move. With Ferrari's automotive and design experience this will show the world that a hybrid car doesn't have to be some Egg shaped fuel efficient vehicle but can have character and performance and save a little fuel too.

This is for Golf4me and the rest of you Hybrid hating douchebags,

Give it a rest already, we know you hate Hybrids, I find any claim that any of you buttheads have ever had any hand in developing these machines complete and total BS.

If these companies want to put effort into this that is their call so stop bitching about it.

I swear, you people are as anachronistic as a crossbow in Baghdad.

You know, I really was thinking of getting a Ferrari, but with gas prices today, they're just so expensive!

But seriously, to merely echo what others have said, a Ferrari purchasers isn't exactly that price sensitive, and they're not a high volume producer to have an impact, positive or negative, on the environment (though maybe this would improve air quality in Hollywood).

Hybrids, from a performance standpoint, might make sense with a big sedan like the Lexus 600h, but will the added weight make sense on a light weight sports car? Again, maybe it makes a difference with the Hollywood set, who will finally be able to trade in their pokey Priuses for a Ferrari and still feel good about themselves (though it does raise the question of where they'll store their collectible African adoptees).

In the 1960's Ferrari built V6 engines for the Dino line. Furthermore turbos have been featured in the 288 GTO and the 208 GTS. I'm sure a Ferrari V6 turbo would be extremely fast and powerful.
As far as hybrids go, more than one manufacturer has expressed interest in the performance aspects of this technology. In this case, an increase in fuel economy and decrease in emissions would be a nice side-effect.

They should just skip ahead and do 4 cylinder diesels taken from Fiat's lineup! This way they'll bankrupt faster and we all avoid the shame of a less-than-8 cylinder Ferrari!

I could maybe see a turbo six in a small ferrari two-seater. But a hybrid? Gimme a break! Just pay the fines associated with the new CAFE regs... jack up the prices of the cars by $20k... and go on with it. If you can afford a Ferrari... you can afford to pay a little more for one.

Cause when I buy a Ferrari, I want it to have the same engine as a Nissan! V12 and butt loads of power or V8 and wieghing as much as Nicole Richie is the only thing Ferrari should be thinking about!

I didn't think ferrari was high volume enough to have to worry so much about fuel economy. i also really don't think a turbo six or hybrid model would be a good fit with ferrari's current image/customer base.
