Just did some calculations...This "EnzoII" has power/weight ratio similar to current liter-bike ratio!!
Can you imagine accelerating in a car as fast as a Suzuki GSXR1000R, or a Yamaha R1, or a ZX10R?!!

Ironic, that after some 25 years, the 288 GTO remains the best looking of these Ferrari supercars.

The bad thing about the FXX is it's not street-legal (I actually think it looks somewhat like a Zonda). If the claims about this car are true...that's some serious performance.
The Enzo looks pretty cool, but I agree with the others: Ferraris with smooth, curving lines look nicer and more refined than the angular models.

I'm more interested in how they are going to achieve a weight reduction of 800 lbs. The boosted engine is not going to be a huge weight savings as it will still require substantial cooling to meet the power output. So, with the additional radiators and intercoolers, tranny cooler, oil cooler it will all add up. The suspension and braking will need to be every bit as beefy. The chassis is already made of carbon fiber, where is the weight going to come from?

Scarface03
700HP out of a V8 is not that big of a leap if you add boost. A twin turbod V8 could easily achieve these numbers. With a new DI V8 you can keep the compression ratio a little higher due to the cooling properties of DI and still be OK to boost to about 1 bar. These engines tend to be well engineered and built from the best materials and should take the boost well. With modern engine management computers, there is no reason why 700HP shouldn't be easily done.

Their current V8s put out 500+ HP. So, allow a slight drop in power for a modest reduction in CR and you still only need to add about 0.5 bar or manifold pressure to get to 700HP.

I know i will never afford even touching this thing, when I look at it i hate myself, but if I don't own it does not mean God hate me, so now I don't hate myself.
Just a thought. I know some of you think that.

It kinda sucks that it only has a V8, i would have expected Ferrari to fit a V12 in no matter what the emissions say it has to conform to.

I will just wait until the Enzo comes out to reach a verdict, however, I know Ferrari are putting their hearts into this design and engineering marvel. It's been a long time since the last Enzo debuted. Hopefully this one will be nothing short of pure Ferrari racing pedigree with Enzo's soul in it.

I wonder where LLN is getting their info. Early reports had the Enzo successor getting its performance gains from less weight and aero, with not too much emphasis on power. 700+ hp is a lot more than Ferrari's current V8. If it were 700+ hp squeezed out of the V-12, that's not a shock, cuz that woud be less than a 10% bump over Enzo I's powerplant. But this much power from a Ferrari V8 seems like it wouldn't hit the news before now.

Also, I doubt it's likely the 430 platform would be used. If Enzo II will be a V8, it may make sense to start with their V8 platform, but the FXX has been undergoing all of the aero tests, etc. It seems logical that Enzo II will be based off of the FXX, othewise, what would be the point of the FXX in the first place....

@SomeGreek

I might be inclined to agree with you except this season would prove otherwise. Ferrari and McLaren have some of the biggest budgets in F1, but they're doing poorly this season. Now Brawn and Red Bull have stepped up to the plate, and the veterans are scrambling their engineers. It's about technical skill in both engineering and driving. Being a big team may give them slight advantage, but it does not determine the success of the team.

This looks like crap, there is way too many jagged lines going on, Ferrari would be out of their minds to do that. The first Enzo had some sharper lines, but they made it flow with the rest of the design, this new one however is atrocious.
I'm interested to see how they are going to pull off the weight though... I hope it isn't bare bones on the inside, ferraris should be comfortable as well. And like others said, this kind of styling is for lamborghinis, not ferraris.

I'll believe the weight when i see it. But Ferrari must be pissed that a 100k Corvette ZR1 is basically the same speed around the Ring as their 1M + Enzo. I expect this car to be ridiculous in both price and performance. Now where did i put that 2M? I'm almost certain i left it on the table.

This is going to be incredible @ 2200 lbs. Will it have a KERS system? Hopefully it will rev higher then 8500 Rpm limits on the 430.
F1 is great this year, I like the parrity. Clearly Brawn is a genuis. No, Jensen is not the driver Alonso, Hamilton or Kimi is, but this proves all the drivers are close enough that the tiny incremental advantages afforded by the stronger cars it all it takes to upset the balance. WRC has best drivers no matter.

The two different rules is a transitional state in my opinion. It's a trick to persuade the big fish to become small, by favoring the small teams. It's definitely unfair but if the big guys want to be even, they'll just have to become small. But they don't want to, because they will lose their advantage to victories, which will make them less famous. But their fans are their power they use to affect the sport in their favor. Being equal with the smaller teams will jeopardize the future titles and their ability to affect the whole sport. The new ruling will anforse the to degrate so they're desparate to avoid it.

Uninspired illustration.

The two different rules is a transitional state in my opinion. It’s a trick to persuade the big fish to become small, by favoring the small teams. It’s definitely unfair but if the big guys want to be even, they’ll just have to become small. But they don’t want to, because they will lose their advantage to victories, which will make them less famous. But their fans are their power they use to affect the sport in their favor. Being equal with the smaller teams will jeopardize the future titles and their ability to affect the whole sport. The new ruling will anforse the to degrate so they’re desparate to avoid it.

i was never in to the first enzo. less so with this illustration. the pseudo f1 nose cone has got to go, or go all in like the caparo and try to the performance while you're at it.

Very interesting illustration. It looks almost too tame to be the next Enzo. Good try, LLN. But I hope the rumors about the powertrain are true. That will be absolutely insane.

As for F1. If the regulations go the way they seem to be going for next year, everyone needs to leave. I don't care how "fair" it may seem, having different regulations for different teams is ridiculous. You remove the whole sporting aspect if you treat teams differently. Ferrari and Renault have already issued statements about leaving if it happens.
And Brawn. I like Jenson Button. I've always thought he was a good driver. But how he's become such a dominant force with a completely new team is beyond me. But the new regulations are so convoluted that it would be hard to call anyone out on anything.

hangonbig3 & Pazzo, I'm going to start watching F1 again. That's the beauty of this board, sometimes it takes others to restore one's interest.

700hp in a 2200 pound car....I've driven plently fast cars over the course of my life, but this thing will be on a whole other planet in terms of raw performance. It will make ZR1s, GTR, heck even the upcoming Aston One77 look down right slow. This car wont drive down the road, with that kind of power to weight ratio it will simply teleport from place to place.

At 700HP and 2200 lbs, I almost don't care what it will look like. (as long as its not too much like a Gumpert) With the kind of performance that will be capable of, it will be pure sex, regardless of looks.

or to add to my point about calling it the next enzo....

it would be like calling a new boxster a 911's big brother.....nope cant be named enzo 2...just cant...

and from what knowledge i know of getting to own one, you have 2 have at least 1 ferrari and other either race ferrrai's or collectables....and hand picked....or you could just give them 200,000 more than they are asking....CASHHHHHH.....

always works.... :)

I like it, i really do like it....BUT i would not go as far as 2 call it the next enzo...no way...Their is only one enzo...you cant say it will be the next enzo with a v8 in it, no matter if it has 2 turbos or not...Thats like saying you will take opra over jessica biel.....( couldnt think of a better exampe when i was typing sorry)hahaha...

And jonnyc...your spot on buddy....eccleston thinks he is the god...but if ferrari goes, MILLIONS will go from f1.. money wise and people wise....i have been watching f1 since i was a kid late 70's 80's 90's 2000...love it...
as for J button...something is fishy thier.....he has had multiple car changes and nothing major before...now he is 4 from 5 races.....i think brawn is hiding something special.....

Go Fazza.....
