Spied: 2010 Ferrari F430 successor?

06/12/2007, 12:57 PM

By Nick

The photographers at spy firm Hidden Image have snapped a single shot of a new Ferrari model under wraps near the Italian automaker’s Maranello headquarters.

Supposedly a successor to the Ferrari F430, the new car would likely arrive as a 2010 model. Ferrari started offering the F430 as a 2005 model, and the 360 as a 2000, suggesting a five-year lifespan is typical for these vehicles. The Ferrari F355 was also sold for just five years.

According to Hidden Image, the car will feature radical new styling scheme, the new option of all-wheel drive, reduced body weight and improved handling from innovative adaptive suspension damping.

Since F1 racing cars have switched back to V8 power, expect the F430’s successor to feature a V8, rather than a V10 to match Lamborghini’s Gallardo.

The new car would likely be shown in early 2009. Is the car pictured under wraps the successor to the F430 or something else? You be the judge…

Wow. It must really be a slow news day. A grainy picture of a Ferrari under a tarp. How do we know it’s a Ferrari? Because the tarp is red…

I’ve seen tarps before but not such a beautifully stitched red tarp as this. Gotta be a Ferrari! hahaha

The spy pic does look like a Ferrari but I think it is the F430 CS. The red tarp is to protect the paint. The rendering looks very similar to the F430. The photoshop picture looks kind of ugly. All of this is my opinion. I have no proof to support my claims.

lol global lighning. this is probably a ferrari 360 witha tarp on. i doubt ferrari would be in that much of a hurry to replace the suiccessful F430 and when they do it will probably be around 2012 and not 2010

its funny, the waiting list for an F430 is something like 3-4 years, which means that some people will still be waiting for their F430s when its sucessor appears on the market, I think a simaler situation occured with the 360.

2010 sounds about right to me, remember it’s not just about sales…it’s about staying ahead of the game. Lexus’ LF-A is projected 2009-ish right? New NSX around the corner too. GT-R is almost here..Blue Devil is coming. I don’t think Ferrari has time to relax.

===========>>i think its nothing more than the F430CS… if it was to be the next gen FXXX this is FAR TOO early to have a completed prototype to even put under any tarp….

Please, no all wheel drive on a ferrari. Keep it rwd. Just because lambo does it doesn’t mean it’s good. That’s the main thing I don’t like about the current lamborghini’s.

could that picture be anymore grainy? It dosent reveal even a hint at anything, they might as well have taken a picture of the ground, it would be just as exciting.

HEY, I think that big black thing on the side is the 2010 Peterbuilt 18-Wheeler. An that headlight on the partial glimplse of the SUV on the left (The one with the roof rack) is the ‘09 Nissan X-Terra. Ooooo. And that metal thing along the bottom of the screen look like a new invention that will line the streets of Italy… PROOF that the Back To The Future Hoverboard will arrive by 2015.

No one said anything about awd reducing weight. But man what a spectacular car cover. Didn’t know they made them in red. The front fenders have some serious curves though. If it’s Ferrari it will look good. If not a first, it’ll grow on almost anyone
