Ferrari planning spiritual revival of P4?

03/22/2006, 11:07 AM

By admin

Ferrari is reportedly planning to build a new car based on the Enzo that hearkens back to the P4 racer of the 1960s (shown right). The car will be revealed on August 20th at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, according to AutoExpress. It was designed by Pininfarina, and is more than just a concept, according to a source at the design firm. The car will be called the 612 P4/5, and will feature the same engine as the Enzo, as well as the same chassis, wrapped in carbon bodywork and a full roll cage. The nose is shorter and more aggressive than that of the Enzo. The windscreen, roof and rear of the cabin are all transparent, creating panoramic visibility.

Nice picture but I think that is a Dino 206 competizione, not a P4…..still a pretty car but the p4 has better porportions.

Revival this, revival that, Ford GT fine, VW Beetle sure, BUT P4?!?!? YES! I only WISH I had chosen real estate instead of car design as a profession…then I may have had a chance!

they’re making revivals, because no one has concentrated on the visceral proportions these cars had and left them to the wayside for things like grilles and headlights and trunkspace in an exotic sports car that you’d never go grocery shopping in…

this is autoweeks cover story this week… theres no revival. some rich dude just commissioned pininfarina to turn a 2003 ferrari enzo into a modernized p4… cost him like 4 mil… but its a one-off. its possible we will see it not only at pebble beach but at paris…

Cool – a transparent windscreen. That’s clever. ;)
