One of the big differences is going to be in the aero department. This allows very good stability at high speeds and keeps it glued to the corners, especially high speed sweepers. An atom may be faster around an autocross course but not any of the major racetracks.

If someone can point out some lap times to prove me wrong I would love to see them. I always appreciate seriously fast cars.

BTW any specs on how much the new FXX weighs?

My point about the point of this car is that I still don’t get the point (everyone follow?). It’s not street legal, it can only be used at Ferrari-sanctioned events (at least until the lease runs out?….), and neither the car, nor engine, is campaigned in any other racing event. It just seems like all of engine work (I’m sure a huge investment) will just dead end as soon as the F60 (or whatever it will be called) comes out, which won’t have a V-12. Maybe work on the traction control and aerodynamics will find their way into the F60….

If you did you’d know that FXX is not a road car. It is a “track car,” which is basically to say that it is a race car. Hence the last line in the article: “Like the previous FXX program, the cars will be showcased in a series of races held in North America, Europe and Asia.”

So that answers any questions about the market for this car. It basically appeals to super-rich people that want to compete in a control-spec Ferrari FXX GT series.

What race car has traction control? As of the last couple years, pretty much all Formula 1 cars have had traction control (Although it’s supposed to be gone next year)

And I have a final question, is this actually a brand new car, or is this what all of the original FXXs now are after the two or so years of tweaking during “Client Testing”?

I have to be honest though about this car. I’ve always admired the Enzo and FXX, but they just aren’t as exciting to me as a 599. This car resembles too closely an actual F1 or LeMans race car. They have functional beauty as apposed to artistic beauty. The 599 is a beautiful car with much less ‘form follows function’ design.

Instead of getting an Enzo and working upwards from there, stripping off weight etc, they should get something really, really light, such as an F40, and fit in the better gearbox, drivetrain etc, while tuning up the V8. Or they could detune one of their F1 engines. That would be something.

Bugatti and Koeniggsegg smashed the 400 kph barrier, now it’s time for Ferrari to prove their worth. 500kph machine from the Scuderia Ferrari? Yes please.

This thing is so wicked. Have you noticed how Ferrari is making their premier vehicle ever closer to simply being an F1 car? They might as well have a version named Schumacher.

Wonder what kind of time this would pull down at the Nurburgring in the hands of an F1 driver?

The whole “client test driver” is tiresome marketing speak that undoubtedly draws laughs from the Ferrari engineer insiders. Exactly what input from a 65 year-old self-made millionaire would be beneficial to Ferrari’s team of professional engineers in designing one of the most sophisticated automobiles in the world? Schumacher himself is vulnerable to this criticism–sure he can talk about driving dynamics and the like, but again, are his insights that much better than Ferrari’s test drivers.

Is Ferrari only selling the Evoluzione to those who already have FXX’s? If so, what do they do with their FXX’s?

Ferrari’s already hinted or said that the next streetlegal supercar (“F60″) will be based on a V-8, right? If so, where is Ferrari going with all of this development of the V-12? Formula 1 doesn’t use it, I know the 430 is raced, but I don’t think there are any other V-12 based road cars being raced. Where are they going with this?
