Ferrari on Wednesday unveiled a 2008 612 Scaglietti built to order to showcase the company’s new One-to-One Personalization Program. The 612 was launched at the maker’s New York Park Avenue showroom is expected to be the first of a series of models Ferrari customers will be able to custom-tailor exactly to their tastes.
Ferrari wishes to give customers of its flagship grand touring machine full personalization options, ranging from new content down to the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Program offered since 2006. The latter allows options from four areas to be added to the car: Race and Track, Exterior and Colours, Interior and Materials, Equipment and Travel.
The new program goes a step further by adding a dedicated workshop area where the custom touches will be specified by customers, similar to a tailor’s fitting room. A dedicated area at the Maranello production facility will then assemble the unique cars.
The 612 used to showcase the new development features some unique touches of its own, including an electrochromic glass roof that features varying levels of tint at the touch of a button. The technology was developed in conjunction with Saint Gobain in the flip-top 575M Superamerica.
Furthermore, the car is equipped with a SuperFast gearbox that allows for 100-millisecond shifts and a lighter clutch for sharper engine response. The manettino dial found on sportier models makes it onto this 612’s steering wheel and allows for fine-tuning of shift speeds, suspension settings and electronic aid thresholds.
