"c3p0", good comeback, worthless monkey. May 3 6:39 pm, you posted (above) one of THE most baseless, useless comments I've ever read. Because you know what's it like to work for either company.

Sorry "Ratman", no hot chick would bother with any of them. Okay, maybe upper management.

1c3d0g, did your parents have any children that survived. I'm convinced you wait until there is a concensus in the comments before you spout the exact opposite. You're what's known as a pathetic troll.

Both Fletch and PrimeGTP are correct in saying that it isn't fair to compare high volume manufacturers with Ferrari, but if there was no UAW those companies would be doing a lot better, IMO.

Now, if only American companies would learn how to design cars that more people actually wanted to drive, a foreign company wouldn't be number 1.

Note that the Auburn Hills DCX plant is a PILOT plant, NOT a production plant. Do a little Googling to see the difference. Pilot plants test out build process and components. Typically a pilot plant might build anywhere from 5 to 100 units to verify the production process. Done this way as you can't tie up a production plant to test out processes and they wouldn't have the fixtures, etc. not to mention the time it take to refit a line.....

Uhhhhh, not to mention HAND MADE VEHICLES vs production.... If GM made the Vette in a Ferrari factory, it would cost $200k as well. Is this even being discussed?

I would imagine working for Ferrari is as pleasurable as working for Playboy.

2 very cool US Plant tours. I have been to the F-150 plant outside Detroit, which is very clean. Ford has done some cool green things like planting vegitation on the roof to keep it cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter, and rainwater is collected for wash rooms. I also understand that the Corvette Plant in Bowling Green, KY is also spotless inside, and is among the most toured auto facility in the world.

Homeboy, I wish my bathtub would accelerate from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, and finish 2nd to only the Porshe Carerra GT at the ring in Germany as the current Z-06 does. When the Vette "Blue Devil" comes out it will be faster than the Ferrari F430, or force Ferrari to step up their game!

Yep, throw Ferrari's management into an environment where they have to manage 10 times as many models, a dozen different markets, factories everywhere, etc. and watch them sink. The two companies can't be compared, they are apples and oranges.

As cool as Ferrari is, comparing them to GM is a weak argument. It's not easy being a large volume vehicle assembler. True, Toyota seems to be the leader of the pack right now, but even they are not immune to issues. Toyota has had a lot of recalls lately and handled them well I think.

I’ve supplied a link to a great video about the Ferrari facility. It’s 45 minutes in length but worth the watch. Quickly into it you see why this plant is rated so highly. Natural lighting, trees planted on the factory floor to provide the correct humidity levels and everything is state of the art and clean. I am one to believe that a great work environment contributes to a better product. However this constitutes a tremendous investment by US auto companies. GM and Ford are showing slight signs of improvement but it will take a complete turnaround and sustained growth before we will ever see anything near a Ferrari level plant in the States. Thanks for listening.

Never been to Europe, so I can only speak to what I've read. Shorter work weeks and more emphasis on leisure time activities compared to 60 hour work weeks and long commutes in North America.
