Ferrari’s Fiorano: 599 GTB gets proper name

Ferrari’s latest model went on display today at the Geneva Motor Show. There’s not much new to report about the 620 horsepower supercar, but we did learn something new about its name. Ferrari has added “Fiorano” to the end of the nameplate, and provided an explanation of the naming scheme. Fiorano comes from the circuit Ferrari uses to hone the performance of its track and road cars; GTB as in Gran Turismo Berlinetta after the most famous Ferrari berlinettas ever built; and 599 to reflect the displacement of its V12 engine (5.99 liters). Why does it not have dual taillights? It’s just not a Ferrari without them.

The 599GTB Fiorano is the new born in the V12 Berlinetta Ferrari series. It will replace the 575M Maranello.
The pininfarina design bends backwards to the Ferrari myths of the past. I fell in love with this car.

Not liking this design, the front end is just too goofy.

Much like the 612, Ferrari’s new designs may take awhile to get used to! I’m not a huge fan, but seeing this in person could really change that(?) Then again, I was skeptical of the 360, and it’s managed to really grow on me.

Positively gorgeous.

Pininfarina nailed it where Nissan couldn’t get it right (G35 coupe). Then again, who would that surprise?

That’s the difference between Italian designers and Japanese engineers.

yea right Ted….only a complete idiot like you would even dare to compare a multi-million dollar ferrari with a garden variety japanese coupe……oh and yea, the G35 doesnt look all that bad…….

Aww, did I upset Jeev? so sowwy.

Here’s a few facts for you -
The Ferrari will not cost multi-millions, it will be around $250,000. So you’re only off by several orders of magnitude.
The G35 is not “garden variety”, it is the new Skyline, supposedly nissan’s panultimate car.

Have fun with that.

BTW good visual design has nothing to do with cost. That latest hyundai is gorgeous while the 350Z, likely 2-3x the cost, still looks like a crapping frog.
