One of the more perplexing introductions at the Geneva Motor Show is a special edition Fiat 500 known as the "500 America," which will be offered in coupe and convertible form. Only 500 examples of each body style will be built, none of which are being allotted for U.S. buyers.

Now, call us crazy, but a Fiat 500 with some good ole American pride slapped on the mirror caps, wheels and pin-striping sounds exactly like the kind of thing a select group of American buyers would gladly line up to purchase. Fiat apparently doesn't see it that way.

At any rate, for the Europeans out there, the 500 America coupe will come exclusively in metallic "America Blue" and has an American flag motif painted on the mirrors. Red and white stickers adorn the belt line on both sides and 16-inch wheels with a red ring around the center caps come standard.

The patriotism extends inside with red and ivory seats and a white dashboard, though Fiat has not released any interior shots.

The 500C America gets roughly the same treatment but it is finished in white with a red top. To better contrast with the body, the belt line stickers are blue and red, and the center caps have a blue ring.

Oh, and in case you were wondering what inspired Fiat to sell the 500 America models? You can thank the J-Lo collaboration for that, according to Fiat.

*Note: Leftlane first reported on a pair of models known as the "500 Nation Limited Edition" in November that were supposed to be headed for the Bologna auto show, but Fiat has since changed the name.
