The Fiat 500 kicked off the return of the brand to the U.S. market with a bit of a thud, rather than the 50,000 unit bang the automaker had hoped for.

But it appears the Italian automaker may have at least one idea to help boost sales: a new wagon variant. According to Bloomberg, Olivier Francois, head of Fiat, confirmed a new five-door variant of the 500.

Francois did not go into any details about what to expect, aside from confirming that the model will break cover at the upcoming Geneva motor show in March. The brand chief also confirmed that the model would in fact be coming to U.S. showrooms beginning in 2013.
