Actually Needs More Penis,

Steve333 made no such statement. He merely stated that he owned a Cobalt and it wasnt a bad car (even though he liked the Mazda 3 better). His statement was fair saying that the quality was coming back and we should give Goverment Motors a chance. I agree with that much.

I also realize it is hard for you being a retard in an intellects world.....there were allot of words in his comment. You just got confused. Its not your fault your alcoholic mom drank every day for nine months.

Ford - we dont need Goverment Money

Steve333 nailed it. GM is the standard of the world. Everything else is just wannabe copycat crap with 1/10 the quality, reliability and dependibility that the General is known for. A GM vehicle will last 400 to 500 thousand miles WITHOUT EVER HAVING A PROBLEM while your typical runofthemill POS import will be dead and in the junkyard once the warranty expires.

Wake up people, get a focking clue. Time to dump your POS and get with the program. Head to your nearest Chevy, Buick, GMC or Cadillac dealer today and make the right choice. The American choice.

Be American. Buy American. Buy GM. it is your obligation

steve333
All I am is saying is compete or get out of the way……………………………

It is a shame that this once great company is in such a mess.

I would be the first one to change my opinion and buy there product if they did not think we were lambs for so many years.

You are right.
But if you screwed up as much as they did at your job, would you expect the american taxpayer to bail you out???

Enough Already

I can understand why you may feel like that on one level, but on another level why would it give anyone joy to see the company fail?
I drive a Cobalt. I think its a good cat, not best in class, but good nonetheless. I won't buy a car I don't like just because its American. I test drove a bunch of compacts, the Corolla being one of them (awful car) and the only car I liked to drive better than the Balt was the Mazda 3, and at the time supplies were low.
GM has been coming out with some very nice vehicles lately-Travers, Equinox, Malibu, CTS, SRX, Enclave, LaCrosse with more good stuff in the pipeline.
GM is remaking itself and the Govmnt will be paid off sooner than expected.
Give the new GM a chance to change perception and leave the old GM behind.

The Caliber and Patriot are two of the most purchased vehicles for fleets in Chrysler right now. Now I'm the insurance guy for them and that's about 25% of what I see us insuring. Pharmacudical companies love the Patriot!

even thought i do think they need to be replaced it better to have something in the market selling a little then to have nothing.

who knows the update may be enough to be OK until 2012 for fleet sales?

low interest loan's

NMOFGM - Maybe you should check your sources again. Yes some K cars had Mitsubishi motors in them. But not all of them. In fact most were powered by the 2.2L Chrysler inline 4. The 2.6L "Silent Shaft" Mitsubishi engine was optional up until the end of 1985. The 2.6 was a piece of junk. The 2.2 was pretty well bulletproof. In 1986 the 2.6L Mitsubishi was replaced by a 2.5L Chrysler motor.

I think Fiat is doing the right thing by keeping the Sebring and Avenger around until they can get new models. Who cares if it is only rental companies buying them. At least it translates into money coming in.

The anti-GM rants because of the bailout are getting a little tiresome.
Was anyone complaining when GM switched into a Military Contractor and helped us win WWII?
Was anyone complaining when GM brought millions of Americans into the Middle Class?

The company screwed up, now they're clawing their way back. I would rather not see an American icon fall by the wayside. I don't understand why any American would.

You are all idiots! Do you guys not realize that these face lifts are pretty much exterior and interior redesigns? Thye say face lift because the platforms will still be used. Fiat and not just magically bring cars here overnight! They have been planning to bring redesigned versions of their cars here, and those redesigned versions will take a few years to create, plus additional time making them U.S. specific. Hence, they cannot bring the cars here overnight. These "face lifts", hence, major updates, will hold the public over until the new products arrive. Just because the current lineup is crap, does not mean the face lifted versions will be! Treat this logically, and don't just run your mouth after the first thing that comes to your mind! The maturity level on this site is terrible! Lets bring the conversations up to an adult level and think about the positives instead of just bias negatives!

Hence, they cannot bring the cars here overnight. These “face lifts”, hence, major updates, will hold the public over until the new products arrive. Just because the current lineup is crap, does not mean the face lifted versions will be! Treat this logically, and don’t just run your mouth after the first thing that comes to your mind! The maturity level on this site is terrible! Lets bring the conversations up to an adult level and think about the positives instead of just bias negatives!

How depressing. Once apon a time, Chrysler was one of my favorite companies...now they are a hollow shell of what they used to be... Their best cars these days are nothing more than reskins of outdated Benz tech with cheap interiors... Whatever they decide to do in 2012, it better be a grand slam right out of the gate because they are down to their last out and right now, it looks like their pitcher is up to bat....could I possibly drag out this baseball anology any further? :)

One way to accelerate positive change in the Avenger/Sebring.... force all Chrsyler managers and reps no matter what title or number of years they have with the company, to drive one as their company car. Watch how quickly they'll be a design change.

Jake- and I've told this story before- but I bought my '06 Sebring after the '07 (current generation) came out. I took one look at the new one and had the dealer search all of western Canada for any new remaining outgoing models. They only found 3, all in Alberta. The damn thing had to be shipped from Edmonton in December during one of the most crappy winters in recent memory. It took 5 weeks to get it to Vancouver and the sales guy said that when the car hauler showed up they couldn't even tell what it was because it was caked in so much crap. I'll bet even then it probably looked better than the '07 in the showroom.

NMOG,Come to Michigan to see what happens to what??????????
Your telling us that some clown's are vandalizing imports, only.
They do not need to vandalize american product, the american companies did that to themselves.

If SO many people actually want to own Goverment Motors product lets wait and see the most recent sales numbers, coming out soon.

Yes, everyone's sales will be down, but lets see how far the mighty Obama motors has fallen.

If they are vandalizing imports in Michigan you can understand why, they have nothing but time on there hands what with the american auto industry sinking.

One of our few obligations is to pay our taxes.
Oh yeah, that went to help out Obama motors and they still cant sell anything or pay back the loans.
So you see we met our obligation, we bailed out your once proud american auto industry.

First the American Auto Industry now our Health Care.

Boy are we in for trouble.

K-cars with jap engines in them? Mitzubuishi to be exact. The same japs that murdered thousands of Americans in WWII with thier terrorist planes.

Back to Chryco, they should just liquidate and be done with it. Or drop their entire portfolio, start rebadging world class GM products people actually want to own and be thankful they've still got a job.

Otherwise they are nothing but imports. Come on up to Michigan sometime, see what happens to sh1tty imports who dare drive around these streets. They get keyed, stoned and firebombed. You either drive American or pay the price. Chyco is on the edge of becoming one of those victims.

Buy American, buy GM. It is your patriotic obligation

Not everyone looks at a car like a lover and has to get excited everytime they see it. Yes BMW's are incredible, Honda's are near bullet proof but you also pay dearly for the price of admission. I will take an Avenger to get to work, and pocket the thousands saved over a Toyota or Honda and let my money work for me elsewhere. I know all of the arguments about depreciation but a car is certainly not an investment opportunity and I will better place that money elsewhere that can make more than modest returns. Like others have said, it will take time to turn Chrysler around (if ever) and if anyone remembers the K car series was incredibly ugly and boring but I still see big numbers of them on the road and they just keep running but how many Citations and Fairmonts of the time are still on the road.

I guess Fiat was smart not to pay cash for its stake in Chrysler. This minimizes their chances for losses if they can't get Chrysler turned around fast enough. Sadly, by not being able to get the replacement product out sooner, I think Chrysler is going to sink even further. At this point, I won't say that they're done for, but the outlook doesn't look good. 2-3 yrs with product that consumers don't even want today is a scary prospect.

In order to sell any Buicks outside of China, GM would need to raid a few cemetaries to dig up some potential customers.
Or raid a few senior citizen's facilities.
They were probably driving Buicks prior to the end.

I remember when the first Japanese vehicles showed up in this country.
The american auto industry stated " we will send them back across the ocean".
What a joke!!!!!!!!!!

You better believe it, BUY IMPORTS.

Never mind patriotic obligation.
There obligation was to make a product that competes with the other manufactures, they failed for years.
Gettin better, but will take more time.
They did it to themselves, making suv's and pickups when the imports were developing products for the future.
And please do not remind me about Toyota quality or some of the mistakes the imports made.
I do not have enough time to list the mistakes of Obama motors, there I go again, I meant govermrnt motors.

If they ain't selling worth a damn now... they sure won't be in 2012.

I would hope that Fiat is going to let most of Chrysler's lineup die... and replace them with Fiat designed, Fiat branded, FIATs.

Hurry up with that 500 already and give Mini a run for their money.

The only thing worse than buying a Chrysler is buying a Buick. Both remind me of stale underwear that hasn't been washed in 4 years. I'd much rather buy a Lexus or Audi than this crap. Buy imports please.

...and in other unrelated news, Fiat has announced that it has changed its plans to cancel production of their Avenger and Sebring models.

...and this just coming in through the foreign wire; Fiat has just announced that it will no longer discontinue or continue production of its Avenger and Sebring models but will instead redesign each model before canceling production, or perhaps continuing production at a further unannounced date.

A4 is correct, they didnt.
What they did was mortgage THERE company, not get handouts from us.

If they had ALL done it right in the first place, the former BIG THREE would maybe still be the BIG THREE.
Who am I kidding.

Also if the recession had gone a little longer "they would have considered handouts".
No one will ever know, much like everthing collapsing if the goverment did not implement the bailouts.

No one will ever know.

First the American Auto Industry now our Health Care.

Boy are we in for trouble.

Ford didn't do it right. Good lord people, take your blinders off and do some research. If it weren't for the BILLIONS of $$$ of loans back in 2006, Ford wouldn't even be around. They mortgaged their WHOLE company to get loans. The only reason why they got loans in the first place was because the company was run into the ground back then.

They needed cash on hand immediately so they would go into bankruptcy then. The ONLY reason why they did not get government handouts this time around was because they still had some left over cash from the loans 3 years ago.

IF Ford had done it right in the first place, they would NOT have needed loans to begin with. Had the recession gone a little longer, Ford even said they would consider taking handouts.

Johnny is right, do you all expect Fiat to come in and magically design an outstanding replacement in the next 12 months? Cars take time (especially to get right), as evidenced by the Camaro, so rather than have nothing, they'll soldier on with a couple turds that make a little money here and there and keep peoples jobs. Even dropping a Chrysler body on a fiat platform or vice versa would take at least 18-24 months to do, especially because there are no current Fiat's that have passed any U.S. regulations, and that alone would take a huge chunk of time to get past. If they have a new duo ready for this class by the 2012/2013 model year, that will be right on time; especially considering how many other things they have to fix between now and then besides these two cars.

Another once great american auto company going down the tubes.
Pay attention GM.
GM country, it should be we got stuck with the bill.
The bill that will never be paid back.
We being the american tax payer.
Also, public showing no mercy.
Lets see the September sales numbers.

" Cash for clunkers, coming home to roost "

I must agree with someones remark " Ford is a true American company.
They did it on there own.
They will survive on there own unlike FiatChrysler or the other mess ,american motors, I am sorry, I meant goverment motors, sorry again I meant ,ah who cares what there name is.

Watch for the September sales, the numbers do not lie....................

I think the US government should have killed Chrysler when they had the opportunity, using the bailout money to help some of its suppliers that are worth surviving...

That would prevent the future bailouts Chrysler will inevitably need while creating an empty space in the market which would be occupied mostly by Ford and GM, due to their similar lineups (full of trucks, SUVs and large sedans) and for sharing the same "buy american" appeal.

GM could benefit even more, by incorporating all the technologies of the dying company. All that would surely save much more jobs in the long term.

Really, what are they going to do in the short term? Even if they are not up to the level of the competition they'd look awfully silly without a player in the biggest segment in the market. The trick is to not be proud. Go for the fleet sales and beat the retail competition on price. They really are no more or less reliable than anything else when it comes right down to it. They're just aesthetically challenged, that's all.
