Fifth Gear: Corvette Z06, BMW M6

05/29/2006, 12:19 PM

The U.K.’s Fifth Gear got a chance to test the new Corvette Z06, both on road and on a track. They also got behind the wheel of the BMW M6 to see if it’s any better than its M5 sibling. Videos after the jump…

I didn’t quite catch that M button. Could they show that once more, this time in a close-up?

The problem with Fifth Gear (other than they talk like they have a stick up their collective asses; i.e. way too snobby) is that they rarely comment on the cars looks, or its overall quality. At least on Top Gear they review EVERY aspect of a car.

What do you expect from a bunch of racing drivers. Their main focus will always be on performance.

Tiff Needell is a very respectful man. He is amusing and can make anyone laugh and at least smile. Driving with performance in mind is what he does. Yes the two shows have their target audiences; but keep it clear that despite the differences they still emphasize the greatness of automotive sports.

Tiff Needell is a pretty dam good driver, who enjoys driving from the heart. It’s good to hear him rave about an American automobile. I agree, as I own a 2006 Z06. It is a great car and never boring to drive. Thumbs up.
