Late last week, the first redesigned 2010 Subaru Legacy sedan rolled down the line at the Japanese automaker’s Lafayette, Indiana, assembly plant. The Job 1 vehicle, a dark blue Legacy sedan, completed assembly late Friday afternooon amid confetti and celebrations by the automaker, which has enjoyed comparatively strong sales so far this year.
The 2010 Legacy’s introduction also marks the 20th anniversary for the assembly plant, located about halfway between Chicago and Indianapolis.

Subaru says that its redesigned Legacys should start arriving in showrooms in early July. The assembly plant will shortly begin production of the Subaru Outback, which is based on the same platform as the Legacy. It also builds the Subaru Tribeca and, for Subaru’s part owner Toyota , the Camry sedan.
