Crazy money for a car but to the rich and famous that can afford one of these babies, it’s probably money well spent. The money from the auction goes to charity so it’s for a good cause ‘if’ the buyer needed an excuse.

First of all the veyron dosen’t have any of the luxery amneties found in the 911 turbo. The veyron is designed to comport u at 253 mpg. I once sold a 1977 Plymouth Gran Fury police car. It was the same style used on the Dukes of Hazzard. It was dark blue with a grey vinyl interior. Had all the police stuff, spotlight, 440 big block, 727, Sure-Grip rear, coolers on everything except the windshield wiper motor, HD suspension etc, just no decals or light bar. I sold it for $2200. Not a bad buy for at the time a 20 year old car. I wish I had it though, just to beat the $H!T out of it and still be able to drive 130 without feeling guilty if I ended up wrecking it.

Big deal. Are we supposed to be impressed because a bunch of engineers were given carte blanche to build whatever they wanted to with an unlimited budget?

This is built by VAG, right? Restrained by beancounters and real-world sales targets, these are the people that brought you the 911 Turbo and the RS8. Half the horsepower at 10% the price. If I ran the show I think I could do WAY better than 1001 hp for 1.5 million. In fact, you see people tweaking Vipers and getting 850 hp all the time on Youtube.

This isn’t just a car that reeks of money it’s made out of money. LS7 refresh my memory on how many cars have 16 cylinders 4 turbochargers 10 raditors, the most sophisticated suspension in the world, twin clutches, side mirrors that cut down drag at 253 mph. Yea… and it does handle well with the widest tires in production, 15″ carbon ceramic brakes, and all wheel drive with a center diffriential that puts torque 70 30 rear torque bias. And it pulls 1.15 g’s. You can’t compare this to a carrera gt or an enzo cause last time i checked those cars dont cost 5 mil to make and they dont sell for 1.3 mil.

LS7- This is the Hummer of exotic cars. People don’t buy it because they are ever going to insert that second key, because they’ll never go somewhere they can reach 233mph. They don’t care that it can’t handle nearly as well as any other supercar, because they’re never taking it to the track. They buy it to make a statement, because they are compensating for something.

I never got the point of this car.

A person buys a hyper-exotic for:

1. High performance: This car goes fast straight, but handles like **** compared to, say, an Enzo or Carrera GT.

2. Posing: Nice car yes, but again, more people recognize the Ferrari/Lamborigini brand. Even down to toddlers and grandmothers. Gut feeling says a red Enzo will gather more attention than this car.

I guess the only thing left is for you to tell people that it has 1001HP. And precisely 1001, because if you just say 1000, people might think you are lying.

Actually the Veyron is infinitely easier to drive than the Enzo. The Veyron was made for those with lacking skills, much like the GT-R35.

But at over $1M a pop, Eddie Griffin wouldn’t buy one anyway and those who own one are real stingy about letting others drive it. It took some serious wrangling for TOP GEAR to do a top speed run in a Veyron.

I had a ‘76 280Z that I could chirp third in, although it was more of a low-weight thing than a power thing. Oh, and it was a manual, not an auto.

I sold my first car for $1800. It was a 65 Chevy Chevelle with a bored over 327 and 3 speed auto with high stall torque converter, 2.25″ inch dual exhaust with H pipe and 3 chamber Flowamasters. I could chirp third gear. I miss that car.
