After announcing their partnership last week, Kia and DC Comics have revealed the first product of their union for the DC Entertainment charity, ‘We Can Be Heroes.”
The first of eight specially customized vehicles is a Kia Optima SX Limited. It has been treated to a special Batman-themed livery influenced by the artwork of legendary comic book artist Jim Lee. Â "The Optima is our best-selling vehicle and it is the perfect platform to introduce our partnership with DC Entertainment and the Justice League to benefit the 'We Can Be Heroes' campaign," said Michael Sprague, VP of marketing for Kia Motors America.
Kia and DC Entertainment partnered with RIDES magazine to design and build the Batman-themed Optima. The the exterior with treated to a special matte- and piano-black paint scheme, while a lowered coilover suspension and ground effects kit were applied to give it a more aggressive stance. Ksport performance brakes have been added for extreme stopping power, custom-designed 20-inch black wheels and a performance exhaust system.
Other exterior modifications include a custom front grille shaped like a batwing that took over 40 hours to create, yellow LED lighting accents throughout the vehicle and the iconic bat signal etched into the HID headlights. The Optima's seating surfaces are covered in custom black leather and suede with bold yellow accent stitching, befitting of the capred crusader.
As a finishing touch, the Batman-themed Optima is ready for action at a moment's notice with a Bat suit and cowl mounted in the trunk and utility throwing stars installed in the center console. It will be on display at the Time Warner Center in New York.
