Fisker announces North American dealers

03/25/2009, 10:19 AM

By Drew Johnson

In anticipation of the Karma’s launch later this year, Fisker Automotive has announced the names of its initial batch of dealers. The list includes thirty-two dealerships from across the United State and even one from Canada. Fisker hopes to have forty dealers signed up by June.

As the Karma will be an $87,000 luxury sedan, Fisker targeted dealers with high-end experience. The majority of the dealerships are also family owned.

“Our retail partners are our most important assets,” said Fisker Board member Vic Doolan. “To our customers, they are the face of the company. For that reason, we’ve chosen those who will give Fisker owners the comfort and confidence to drive the future.”

In keeping with Fisker’s eco-friendly theme, the new dealerships will be in-tune with the earth, featuring “natural and sustainable materials” and solar powered car ports to keep cars both fully charged and protected from the elements.

Fisker has yet to set a launch date for the Karma, but hopes to have it to market by later this year. Once production is up to full speed, Fisker hopes to sell 15,000 Karmas per year – a goal that might be easily achievable with the Karma’s estimated 100 mpg rating.

Thanks FlyingB. Looks like we’re probably getting one here in Vancouver. I hope the dealership isn’t a mud hut and that they have a backup plan for those solar powered car ports.

Sweet! My home town is going to get one! Or rather it’s most likely my home town. Unless he decides he’s going to open it in Milwaukee instead. Which would probably be better from a business standpoint. Dang.

No problem, everyone. There’s several Jaguar, Aston, and Volvo dealers on the list. I also recognize Manhattan Motor Cars. I’m not surprised that they’re on the list. I don’t have any personal connection to them, but I know that anyone who reads Leftlane would really enjoy a stop there the next time you’re in NYC. Nearly every luxury brand is represented between their new and pre-owned inventories.

Audi A8 and VW Phaeton sell 15,000 units total, Porsche wants to sell 20K units, the Rapide wants a piece of this pie too. Looks like the Quatroporte just got a lot of competition.

I’m sad to see Toronto isn’t on the initial list. I think the Karma would do very well here.
