Fisker Coachbuild considers offering sedan

12/11/2006, 3:56 PM

By admin

Fisker Coachbuild — the company founded by Aston Martin DB9 and BMW Z8 designer Henrik Fisker — is considering adding a sedan to its line of custom-rebodied cars. Fisker acknowledged the possibility in an interview, according to a published report.

It’s not clear which manufacturer’s luxury sedan Fisker intends to use as the basis for the project. To date, the company has rebodied both Mercedes and BMW vehicles. The Fisker Latigo CS is based on the BMW 6-Series, while the Fisker Tramonto is built around the Mercedes SL-Class.

Alternatively, Fisker might create an original car from the ground up. In September, the company disclosed plans to build a new car on an original chassis — something it has never done before.

The Z8 is such a beautiful car, as is the DB9. I’d love to see more from this guy.

I heard he was making new cars from scratch vs rebodied ones in the future…

Donor looks like BMW 7 series??

I agree, it looks nice, just like the other two models. Reason why he just rebodied cars was the placement of airbag sensors and such, so he could get away without any certifications. I am wondering how is he going to build a car from scratch, certify it, and still make money on it, considering they only sell like 150 or os of every model??

oh no!! that rendering from cww is a nice try…but honestly, it does NOT look good at all! ok…oviously it is based on the tramonto photo with modified CLS DLO and other bits and pieces…but can’t help myself to hate that thing. nice try guys…However, I am sure Mr. Fisker will do an amazing looking sedan!

The Mezzogiorno looks like a slightly modified (and larger) Acura TL with an Aston Martin-like front end.

The Z8 IS a beautiful car.

I think that sedan looks awesome, the profile reminds me of a Quattroporte.

I’m sorry, and although I respect this coach-modifier (because as of yet they are not a true coach-builder) I see no merit in morphing an existing automobile of this caliber into another—especially for the price of admittance. To kit-ish for my taste.

that DLO is pure S-class… no CLS there, but the CLS seems a more natural starting point for a fisker given its swoopy roofline. I think it could wear an aston (oops, I mean fisker) grille very well
