The lawsuit between electric sports car makers Tesla and Fisker may be resolved soon after an arbitration meeting with a San Mateo Superior Court judge takes place on August 26.

After the judge hears the case, he will have the option of scheduling a trial or set a deadline for a voluntary resolution between the two automakers. Fisker on Friday released a statement that said it is “extremely pleased” with this ruling because it “allows it to get a prompt and economical resolution of Tesla ’s claims,” as per Automotive News.

To recap, the lawsuit, which was filed on April 14, alleges Henrik Fisker performed poor quality work and then stole Tesla’s confidential information, which he later used to launch his own car, the hybrid Karma sedan.

Tesla paid Fisker $800,000 to design the body and interior of the WhiteStar hybrid sedan and Tesla alleges Fisker’s actions delayed the car’s release by six months. In the meantime, Fisker’s Karma is still due for release by the fourth quarter of 2009, ahead of his former employer’s allegedly similar and inferior vehicle.
