Forbes columnist Jerry Flint has written an editorial that questions the muscle car comeback plans of GM and Chrysler . “It’s fair to ask whether adding a Chevrolet Camaro to the rear-wheel-drive program is the best allocation of resources for a company that desperately needs to fill so many gaps in its product portfolio,” writes Flint, regarding the Chevrolet Camaro Concept. He has concerns about the Dodge Challenger Concept, too. “For one thing, I seriously wonder how many buyers there are for something that retro.” The Leftlane Perspective: Flint first points to the success of the new Ford Mustang , but later tries to justify his anti-muscle argument by highlighting the Pontiac GTO flop. We don’t think anyone needs to remind Mr. Flint that the current GTO is the farthest conceivable thing from a retro throwback. Here at Leftlane, we think the Camaro and Challenger would both sell very well, if brought to market in a timely fashion.
