I like the new ford 5 year warranty, but ford will not honour mine I purshased a 2006 ford escape on may 31 2006 they told me to quit bothering them, with phone calls and emails, i am stuck with the basic 3 year warranty 6weeks from there july 13 date, my birthday is on july 13, being a ford supporter for 39 years means nothing to FORD, my next purchase will be a HONDA.

#14 while I agree with you, however #12 states an opion with no fact, I have heard nothing bad about the Equinox. It’s a very capable vehicle from every review that I have read,,,,and the engine is just the reality of today’s Global economy, whether we like it or not !

Ford are happy to ride on the success of it’s European increase in quality, and I hope they will follow suit and excel themselves every model they bring out!

Toyota, Honda and Nissan always had the 3yr bumper-to-bumper, and 5 yr, 60k powertrain.

Now the domestics are ready to match that promise.
GM did the 5 yr powertrain warranty with the Chevy Cobalt, to match the Corolla.

About time Ford and GM caught on with reliability!
GM still has that crap mismanufactured Made in China engine in the Equinox that breaks down…

Upping the warranty seems like a better way to attract customers than offering huge incentives at purchase. This says that Ford beleives in their own products and I like it.

It will be a great day for consumers when 3/36k is no longer the industry “standard” and something like 5/60k or better is.

I’m sure Hyundai’s 10/100k on powertrain and 5/60k bumper to bumper is a large part of how they were able to shake off their horrid quality reputation they earned w/ the mid-80’s Excel.

that is like basing your opinion of chrysler on a 86 Omni, or of GM based on the Trans-sport and the Venture.

LATELY? Ford has always has pretty solid powertrains, it is the package surrounding the powertrains that has been questionable.
Exactly. The engine’s fine, it’s the ECU that took a dump. Oh, that’ll be $1500.
Our windstar has 67,000 miles on it. The ABS, Brake, Check Engine, Door open, Burned out bulb and one other light stay on the dash all the time. With the exception of the check engine, the other lights don’t give a code.
POS. If it was a 2 year extension to the bumper-to-bumper warranty, Ford would be out of business by 2012. Although I’m not too confident that won’t happen anyway.

My wife had 2 Mustang GTs (’87 and ‘96), my sister had two (’79 Pace Car and ‘85 GT) and having owned 2 Mustangs (’98 and ‘01 GT) myself, I can honestly say that mechanically, each and every one of them was as troublefree as any car could be. My sister had issues with the A/C on her ‘85 and I had the driver’s window come out of alignment on both of mine. Other than that, they ran like clockwork.

#! Yes they have seen this. The two vehicles in recent past that did not have staisfactory reliability: the 6.0l Diesel SuperDutys and the Focus had standard 5y 100k miles powertrain warranty anyways as means of bringing back buyers.

Ford’s Engines and transmissions have been extremely reliable lately…

Should this mean FORD sees a significant increase in quality of their vehicles now so they are confident that the warranty won’t be used to much. I hope so. i drive a mustang and have had no problems yet. lets see if this helps FORD by showing better quality or at least using it as a selling point
