At least they woke up – better late than never.

I know what he meant, I’m just laughing at the mistake. It’s funny. But he’s right. The public perception of Ford is very poor, especially when people say things like “Found On Road Dead” and “Fix Or Repair Daily.” I see things changing, even the public perception. 2010 will be a great year.

For those of you that hate American cars, go take a second peek. They truly have come a long way, and both Ford and GM have gone way up in quality. Chrysler is a little different, but they still are better than they were 10 years ago.

For those of you that hate foreign cars, just remember that our cars would have never changed if the foreigners hadn’t been here. It takes competitive pressure for a company to improve, which I feel has been happening.

And iHustle, the love of American cars is just fine, and I honestly support your love for Ford. After all, a Ford was the most reliable car I ever owned. But the apparent wishing for the demise of GM, another American company, is a bit contradictory. If anything, hope that GM becomes the ONLY real competition Ford has. That would be a great place for America to be.

In response to IHUSTLE above post about “remember where you’re from” ie, the old “BUY AMERICAN” slogan.

Well as you can tell from the article the Toyota Camry, I quote;

“Foreign-based manufacturers like Toyota can identify models like the Camry as “domestic” cars because they meet the government yardstick of having 75 percent or more of their parts made in the United States or Canada.”

Followed by the good old “BUY AMERICAN” cars like Mustang, I quote;

“For example, a seemingly red, white, and blue vehicle such as the Ford Mustang has 65 percent domestic content, and the Chevy Suburban 67 percent. The Mitsubishi Eclipse is built in Normal, Ill., but the engine is made in Japan and it has 47 percent domestic parts.”

So wake up and figure out who’s selling out the American people: Ford Mustang 65% or Camry 75% ???

“BUY AMERICAN” slogan passed its expiry date about 15 years ago

Mazda6 made in Japan is more reliable than the same car made in Michigan. It’s the same design…. so, by definition, it’s the American workers screwing it up…. All Mazdas sold in Europe are Made in Japan. And it shows. TUV declared Mazda3 the most reliable car ever sold in Europe.

sure, manufacturing design is very important….

But if you want reliable car, get a Japanese model that’s made in Japan.

Buy a nice warm pair of gloves.

The fact is, quality of domestic product is getting very close to par with just about anything. There is still a “list” of course. But the differences between each brand, especially near the top, arte getting smaller and smaller all the time.

In the last initial quality list from JD Power (number of problems per 100 vehicles) can anyone guess which brand was at the bottom…..

… Mini. I don’t hear anyone howling about them. They can’t build them fast enough to meet demand. But, as is usual with Americans, the trouble they have with something cute and/or well marketed is considered “character”. When it happens to, say, a Chevrolet it’s called “crap”.

Japanese companies can build quality vehicles, but they are always behind in terms of design.

Well when Ford realized they can’t achieve their goal they can just make another commercial where they lie and say their quality is equal
Toyota should have sued Ford for that BS but luckily people know better and no one was convinced

It’s nothing but BS that has been promised for years, even from GM.

Toyota already has at least 2,000 problems for every 1,000 cars they build, because every Toyota has 2 inherent problems to begin with:

….. 1) Each car Toyota builds is ugly as hell, and
….. 2) Each car Toyota builds is boring as fück to drive.
