Ford is taking a page from GM’s playbook by announcing new lower sticker pricing in place of incentives. According to CNN, Ford will cut the price of its 2007 Ranger super cab pickup by $1,000 and regular cab model by $590. Meanwhile the Escape Hybrid SUV will lose $1,000 from its price tag. The company will also add more standard features to the Five Hundred and Freestyle with no increase in price. It seems U.S. automakers now believe consumers will be more receptive to lower pricing than to incentives. Similar price reductions are said to be in the works for more Ford, Lincoln , and Mercury models. Today, Ford announced it would add standard roll-stability control and side curtain airbags to the Edge crossover.
