The U.S. full-size truck market slowed to a halt earlier this year when gas topped $4 a gallon, but prices have since recessed, allowing for at least a slight recovery in the segment. Ford is hoping its all-new 2009 F-150 will continue the segment’s recovery and on Friday released pricing for its newest truck offerings.
Those brave enough to wade back into the full-size truck waters can get behind the wheel of a base model F-150 Regular Cab XL for just $21,320. The step-up STX will retail from $24,120 while the XLT will set buyers back at least $25,290 – about a $1,000 savings over a comparably equipped 2008 F-150 model. All XL, STX and XLT models come equipped with a 4.6L V8 and a four-speed automatic transmission.

The step up to the FX4 model will run $34,605, but will also include a six-speed automatic transmission. From there, prices run all the way up to $44,860 for a fully loaded Platinum edition – which essentially replaces the Lincoln Blackwood luxury truck.

Ford also notes that a mid-level F-150 Lariat SuperCrew will list for about $5,000 less than a comparably equipped 2009 Dodge Ram – another full-size truck that is all new for the ’09 model year.

The new F-150 leads the class in towing and payload capacity, and also ties the segment’s best for fuel economy when equipped with Ford’s SFE package.
