Ford becomes first automaker to join ‘The Climate Registry’, accepts one standard for greenhouse gas measurement and reporting

Ford has announced a major step forward in its initiative to go green as the Dearborn-based automaker has become the first car maker to join ‘The Climate Registry’. The TCR is a non-profit group that measures and reports publicly greenhouse gas emissions by using a single standard of measurement across all industry sectors.
By adopting TCR’s standards — which are accepted by nearly all U.S. states, some Canadian provinces and several Mexican states — Ford can use one standard for measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions, rather than using the current patchwork of reporting standards used throughout the world.
By joining the TCR, Ford will now have to report its greenhouse gas emissions annually — the result of which will be made available to the public, according to Motor Authority. Unlike some current greenhouse gas emissions programs, TCR’s also takes into account the production process — meaning Ford’s production plants will have to be just as green as its vehicles.
Ford’s entry into the TCR seems to be a smart decision since it will force Ford to clean up its operations or lose favor with the general public. While the program is completely voluntary at this point, hopefully other automakers will follow Ford’s lead.

Just when I thought Ford was getting their act together, they bow to the green-weenies and buy into the biggest scam ever created by Al Gore, the same guy who invented the internet…

Allan Mullaly is either very smart are very foolish. I think he is smart. Notice how everytime the media talk about clean cars it’s always the Japanese and Detroit actually mean Big gas guzzling non-green vehicles? Well here is a silent step away from that image by Ford. Like I say keep up the good work.

So I guess this adds some order and standards to the madness and insanity of the biggest hoax to ever be forced upon us.

5-7 years ago (I don’t remember exactly) Bill Ford announced that Ford would be the greenest auto manufacturer to Sierra Club. Toasts were exchanged and 3 years later Sierra club said that they were duped by Bill (no not Clinton). Let see where this leads us; you can call me sarcastic type.

‘Canadian providences’? C’mon LLN. Is that like a US Staight? I’m surprised the article isn’t about The Climacks Registry.
This is good, fluffy PR for Ford. Will it do any good? Maybe, but like lucklaster says at least it establishes the bar.

Golf4me and lucklaster…forget it…I was going to get into a debate on global warming, but whats the point.
Lets just leave it at this. Whether or not there really is global warming, doesn’t it seem like a good idea anyway to take care of the enviroment and build cars that are both enviromentally friendly and built that way too?? Is that really a bad thing??? I’m no tree hugger and own three guzzling sports cars but I still give Ford major credit for stepping up and doing something positive. Do you know how much positive investment is going into the US economy in terms of development for more “green” technologies?? I’d rather spend billions there then elsewhere!
Good job Ford. Lets go Chevy and Chrysler…Step Up!

I’m so tired of this phrase “green”. It’s like every decade has a catch phrase: 60’s was muscle and speed, 70’s luxury, 80’s don’t even want to remember, 90’s Large pos’s, and now it’s “green”. I can’t believe so many people believe Al Gore’s BS, who would believe anything a guy says that got lost in the woods on his own property at his house in TN.

Oh, in that case it would be the ‘ginormous pieces of ****’ era. Much like the ’90s but on a grander scale.

I like it when eras are placed into concisely alotted time frames where a single sterotype was all that existed.

Realisticly, one worldwide standard for measuring CO2 emissions is the only thing that will ever work. We all share the same planet and same air. Pollution everywhere effects everyone… whether we care to admit it or not. The problem is that too many nations are concerned only with themselves and their economy and are not looking at the big picture.
.
.
The sad truth is that it is going to take some monumental disaster to wake people up and make them realise this.

Hopefully there will be a monumental disaster somehow destroying all hybrids and green cars and the factories that produce them. I don’t know about you guys but I would rather be driving a fast car under a scorched black sky than drive an electric commuter box under the sun. **** commerce!
