What they should do is take a five year Ford off the road and run in through these tests. I’ve got a 13 year old ford ranger that they ought to look at for long term wear. Many of the things they use to keep a vehicle rattle free and tight, like all the rubber mounts, are shot. This makes a vehicle seem much worse to most of the population who doesn’t look under their car.

It’s pretty sad how clueless ford is, it looks like a bunch of folks out of business school designed that proving ground. For example, what was proved by that test with the F350 running up that bumpy hill? The tires barely touched the ground, and the back end was all over the place.. I guess the fact that the cushy interior didn’t rattle? Wow, impress me some more Ford. Throw that woman back to the wolves in engineering school and start over.

The problem with part of their philosophy of accelerated testing is that it doesn’t simulate the wear to the vehicle due to maintenance neglect over time. And really, Ford doesn’t find all the problems in their vehicles – customers find them, sometimes very soon after purchase or just after the warranty expires. Historically, from my experience Ford will leave you high and dry if, for example, the bottom end goes on your V8 500 miles past the warranty expiration period. Therefore my only bold move is to stay away from Ford and Mark Fields’ polished dialogue because it doesn’t amount to a hill of beans.

I think the videos are interesting because they give you a behind the scenes look at how automakers operate. Of course people that hate domestics probably cant stomach the video since it’s not about Toyota. It’s actually pretty rare to see this type of stuff.

Well best video so far. Im glad to see that there getting on the ball so far so good. Toyota might and proably will take the number 2 spot from ford but ford has a larger global market then toyota does so they will be back, and I hope get to the number one spot. Look out toyota and honda. They will get back to the top.

Mark Fields’ remark at the end of the video is right on the money. If they actually execute that philosophy, they’ll be back. But it’s going to be a long road; they’re pretty deep in the hole.
