Hydrogen is the fuel source for the next 80 years or more. There is already a safe way to carry it onboard; the hold up is the testing. The supply from a clean power source is an issue.
It's coming- get ready.
It is time.

ooodaddy, I found your insult however misguided, funny and clever. But explain how Ford is behind in technology if you even state yourself they are rushing to come to the market first? It may not be the best move to bring premature technology (as you imply) to consumers because it may bring a wave of criticisms against further hydrogen technologies if Ford fails in anyway. But don't say they are behind the curve, if anything, they are being hasty and have under analyzed the best way to go.

I do agree hydrogen is the major fuel source of the future, but to keep a fair market I see a need for engines that run on more than one fuel so that prices can stay more stable and we don't see the price gouging of today. That is why I am impressed with the Super Chief Concept because it does run on three different fuel sources and commend Ford on the forsight to go ahead and develop such an engine.

Hydrogen is a BAD idea. The amount of pressure it needs to be under in order to make it portable and useable in an economic sense is INSANE. Imagine some twit in his crappy riced out car driving like an idiot while talking on the phone and he t-bones you because he ran a red light. BOOOOOM!!!! Your "safe" pressurized tank ruptures (oh sure, that would never happen, right!?!) and ignites, instantly incinerating you and your family.

thing 2
If you knew half of what you thought you did it would make you a genious. Ford is terribly behind they are
rushing a hydrogen motor for large fleet accounts
it is not ready will do more harm than good, the hydrogen will be despersed at a gm or toyota store at the dealership about 3-4 weeks supply at a time it will take about 20 years from today before the full impact will be felt, and by then service stations will have the ability too deliver hydrogen cannisters

ooodaddy, Ford is "soo behind the curve" that they have made engines that run on regular gas, E85, AND hydrogen (Super Chief Concept.) Their other companies (namely Mazda) is also "incredibly behind" too, with Rotary engines that run of hydrogen (Mazda's RX Hydrogen Concept). What's really behind is the funding and iniative by the government to start up the hydrogen economy. With no hydrogen fill up stations no hydrogen cars will be produced and there will be no cars made without those stations.

The problem is they will be talking about things such as e85 or hybrids neither is the solution,The solution will probably be in hydrogen where ford is behind the curve. Gm and toyota teamed up on hydrogen years ago and will most likely be available by 2015

Maybe if simple things like ABS were standard on all Ford cars and not an option i would believe they are ready to use 21st century technologies.

Offer the Freestyle with the hybrid drivetrain from the Escape and sell it for $24k. Sounds like a recipe for success if you ask me.

Make cars that people want. This is not hard. Whatever Toyota and DCX is doing, you do as well, but offer American styling and give the car unique attributes that allow it to have character and a personality that allows people to feel emotional about it. Devote %70 of the advertising budget to R&D and engineering. And for the love of god cancel that front wheel drive Volvo derived Lincoln and develop a proper RWD luxury and large sedan platform.

"....When the world was powered by the black fuel. And the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel. Gone now, swept away. For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel, they were nothing. They built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked. But nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. The cities exploded. A whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men. On the roads it was a white line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice...."
