Ford has released official photos of its upcoming Bullitt Mustang. The special edition Mustang wears unique 18 inch wheels — covering Performance-grade Carbon Metallic front brakes — and rides on Ford’s Sport Tuned suspension kit. Ford says the exterior of the Bullit Mustang has a “look of quiet intensity,” achieved by a spoiler delete, a new upper grille and badge removal.
Power from the GT’s 4.6L V8 has been boosted to 315 horsepower and 325 lb-ft or torque, thanks to a cold air intake and a new adaptive spark ignition system. The Bullitt will breathe through a sports exhaust system — with 3.5 inch outlets — and will put its power to the ground via a 3.73 Limited Slip Differential out back. The result is a .3 second faster 0-60 time and a new top speed of 151 mph.
The Bullitt’s interior is finished in black leather with aluminum accents.
The Ford Bullitt Mustang will debut at this year’s Los Angeles International Auto Show.

Does anyone know when the Mustang is up for redesign? If Ford was smart, they would evolve the “retro” aesthetic pretty soon: in my mind, the Camaro and the Challenger are New Mustang 1.0 clones, and moving the Mustang beyond the look that all three will now share could trump those two from a marketing perspective by suddenly making them look dated.

And I kind of agree with seanm415. I like the new Mustang, but I keep seeing previous generation Mustangs and I can’t help thinking it’s still a pretty cool looking car.
Why not spin-off another model from the Mustang? Use the same basic architecture, but give it more modern styling, a wider variety of engines (4 cylinder turbos, maybe), and rear or all wheel drive. Probably just wishful thinking on my part. I guess I still really like the Mustang for one massive reason: for all intents and purposes it’s one of the coolest cars one can buy at its price point.

The Bullitt Mustang will appeal to those of us who grew-up in the Steve McQueen era. It is the no bull**** version—like McQueen himself. I am proud to say that the Mustang is an American automobile worthy of true legacy with the history to prove it. Remember, the movie Bullitt was released 1968, and I was young enough to start my love affair with automobiles, but with no driver’s license. The American car manufacturer’s had a lot to be proud of in the way of vehicles and it showed in so many models worth owning in that era. What happened after that era was a dilatory malaise to blandness. If you want to see the driving for that era rent the movie Bullitt or Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof.

Maybe I am just used to a higher performance car. I rented a Mustang GT-H on a trip and that thing floated down the road like a Buick. The suspension was soft and the car had horrible handling. The front weight bias was obvious – not good for a RWD car. The brakes were as soft as the suspension. I thought its a mediocre engine in a heavy body with no performance creating a boring drive. I just don’t see what impresses people about this car other than it has a decent retro design.

To almost all of you…
What’s the matter with having 7 or 8 variations of the same car? I don’t like my vehicle to be the same as all the Mustangs, let alone any other car. There are so many options and customization packages to choose from, suspension packages to make it tighter around the track, V-6 superchargers to give it 50 more hp than the V-8 stock, appearance packages and now they’ve been coming out with past names to showcase their packages.
The Mustang is a wonderful vehicle, hands down it has a very nice interior (it was also the first thing that impressed me), and everything works fine. Good reliability, and great performance in a straight line. The power is another thing that impressed me, from start to finish you could really feel it! Yes, the suspension was too soft, and the weight of the car too high, but it was very comfortable.
I don’t see alot of difference on this car from the rest of Mustangs, atleast not on this teaser. I would have thought they would show a side profile, because the Bullit had side vents and a wider grill, which would be shown off. I see the larger grill, but I can’t say anything else than that.

Children,
The Mustang and in this case the Bullitt Mustang is not supposed to be your Civic or your Mother’s Camry or even your wet-dreamed about Nissans. It is an Iconic vehicle – like it or not. It was racing the boulevards before most of you were thought of and long before any of your treasured -with two you get rice- car dishes were even a jap thought.
It has survived every fad and new guy on the block. It has created a whole aftermarket that cannot be rivaled and hundreds of companies that depend on it for their existance. It has race series named after it, clubs all over the world and more websites devoted to it than any other. It has been copied and honored and honored again.
It is admired even by those that would deny it. It created a whole new way of looking and thinking about the automobile. It has emerged and evolved and except for a blip in the 70s has never lost it’s way.
And boys- it won’t even blink because some of you don’t understand it.

There just isn’t anything special about this Mustang. For the same amount of money there are much better and of course better quality sports cars for the money. This version of the mustang just shows how lame and desperate Ford is to get more sales. They think by adding a unique title to the car makes it a completely different car lol. 4.6 V8 producing less power than many V6 engines is pathetic and those “performance” brakes look like a joke. This is just another wortless marketing attempt by Ford and only a few fools will fork over their hard earned cash for a cheap car with a “special” badge and title.

And just like the Shelby GT350, GT500, and GT500KR’s including the Bullitt, these are instantly going to be collector cars. Probably the only reason if I had money to throw around why I’d buy this.
