Ford is considering building SVT versions of its Fusion sedan and Edge crossover, according to a Ford spokesperson. The news marks a change of tone from just last month, when the automaker said it would only offer two SVT models. At the New York Auto Show, Mark Fields said Ford plans to offer “one performance Mustang and one performance truck. Prior to that, there were even rumors that the SVT brand would be killed entirely. The spokeswoman, quoted this week by Ward’s Auto, did not provide further details of the plan. Recently, Jamie Allison, program manager-Ford Racing Performance Group, said, “Whether it’s called SVT or Ford Racing, Ford enthusiasts and owners of SVT products have a place, and Ford continues to reach out to them.” He further stated, “We intend to sprinkle (other) cars with the same magic as the Mustang, and in the next year or two we’ll be talking about that.”
