Ford delays launch of F-Series Super Duty

05/26/2006, 11:37 AM

By admin

Ford is delaying the launch of its redesigned F-Series Super Duty pickup truck until January to work out quality issues, reports Reuters. The timing was altered by a couple of months in order to make sure we can deliver very high quality,” Ford spokeswoman Sara Tatchio said on Thursday. The truck will now be sold as a 2008 model, instead of a 2007.

That’s good news. I’d rather have a better truck later on than a half-finished one right now. :-)

WRONG WRONG WRONG….the 2008 truck has been set for Jan 2007 all along, the 2007’s will start production in June and go until December. The 08’s will be an early model due to the new diesel emissions regs. This is not news and has NOTHING to do with quality issues. We have known for many months that the new Super Duty would be a 2008 model coming in January 2007. The order guides and other material to order the 07’s have been in the system for many months. you do not just “suddenly” decide you are moving Job 1…

Uh, #2, how do you explain this:

If past Super Duty lineups are any indication, the next generation will surely be worth waiting for. Going back into the 70’s, and further, this writer experienced the ‘carved from rock’ feeling of even F250 4WD pickups, used as tow trucks for racing efforts. Some things never change; thank goodness!!!!

Mark IV has it right. At least Ford did it right this time and will have an 07 model year for SD’s. Does anyone remember the fiasco when they skipped a model year?? The old 97’s were extended to December and the new Super Duty for 99 came out in Jan 98? and remember even if the dealer should by accident get an 08 before Jan 1 07, by law it can’t be sold until Jan 1 07.

we have know this for about 2-months, and no one ever said anything about quality LOL. From my understanding, this was the plan all along.
