On Alan Mulally, I think Alan might see this as the same set of problems but making smaller less complex machines. But I think it will also be much easier to see results as Cars develop and sell faster than massive commercial passenger liners. He might be thrown by how fast things happen or don’t in the auto industry.

This would explain the very fast announcement and inadvertent debut of the 2010 Taurus.

Also, concerning Bill Ford, I had read that many times descendants of a company founder are very infrequently good at or even qualified to run the company their progenitors founded. While I have little doubt BIll could have been a good exec for FORD, we all see that he sucks as the head of FORD.

I just hope the Ford kids stay out of the developing of cars. Everything they touch turns to S*** it seems. I’ll say this at least Bill Ford realized his limitations after taking the helm and finding out first hand that just because he’s gene related to his great grandfather does not mean he’s supernaturally going to make the right decision for his GGF company. I am happy that he realized he needed to make a change and give Allan Mulally a go even though he knows more of how to put a 747 together rather than a car.

One comment to afflcition. Listen the cat is so far out of the bag right now with trying to limit what your kids see an experience its not even funny. I too was not priviledged to use the phone till I got much older. lol These kids today see and do so much more than any of us did. Unfortunately some is bad other parts of it are good for learning. But it has to be structured learning that parents give them.

I can not fault your feelings. I’m not holding out much hope for FORD until they take the hint and back well away from Trucks and SUVs and focus as strongly, or more so, as they have on said trucks and SUVs.

To think if FORD put half as much effort into the Taurus and Mustang as they do in the F-150, Camry and Accord would be playing catch up like their lives depended on it.

The redress looks good and well thought out. I’m also amazed that it is coming so soon. But then, maybe they are starting to take that hint very seriously.

As for the size. That isn’t going to happen without killing the Fusion. But going bigger doesn’t absolve the car or the company from doing a better job. I agree that more and better tech needs to be used. FORD also needs to learn to make a bigger deal about the tech they are putting in the cars. Of course, it would be nice if they did put better tech to crow about in their cars.

FORD needs to take the same position they did in the “Truck wars” and this is to make the competition scrap and struggle for every little perceived advantage. FORD can and has put out cars that beat the “Invincibles” of world as if they always could. I just wish that didn’t need a slap in the face to go do it.

FORD lacks passion and drive. It shows in their products and the condition of their company.

I agree some change is better in the Taurus than none at all, but if Ford has a shot at regaining the market they can’t do it
on retard face lifts or fake chrome three bar grills. I want Substance. The Kinetic design Blakkarr is a good start for Ford, But Zeesh Ford get a clue. Use some Better Technology is the answer not looking for the cheapest materials.

One last note Supersizing cars is kind of the thing of the past. Sure the Accord and Camry have grown but not nearly as fast as the Taurus. Shrink that SOB (the Taurus) use better technology not making the Taurus any larger than its become reverse the process!!!!

Not to come down on you, but have you really paid any attention to teh FORD FiveHundred/Taurus. It is not big enough to call and boat. Besides, Large FF sedans are, sadly not unheard of in American the CHEVY Impala (Still a huge waste of a great name plate), and the now discontinued CHRYSLER LH cars, have all been successful in this area. More so than any Foreign mark, Recall the TOYOTA Avalon? Never worked at all.

FORD has expressed it’s mid-size intent with the Fusion. The Taurus moves up one size slot, where it likely would have gone anyway with the trend to up-size cars over time.

The Point of the redesign is because, to be blunt, the current car is so ugly and cheap looking, despite being a very good car, that it should almost be a crime. This redress is quite radical but is not the same evolutionary trend the Taurus had gone through. Maybe the 2012 model will be. Maybe not.

But FORD has to deal with what it has right now. Dropping lines like “Make it look more like a Taurus is likely lost on FORD, but maybe not.

I, for one, would like to see a new Taurus that looked like it was the actual descendant of the last “real” Taurus and not a badly watered down variation of their very cool “kinetic” styling. It looks like a strange hybrid of competing style themes.

sheesh ford wake up! your offering is subpar for the domestic market and you know it. GM at least showed some effort improving their offering. if ford keeps on making the same lackluster vehicles they deserve no place in today’s competitive marketplace.

Ford get it right within 2 years after that k. I’ll look for it in 2012. Did anyone see the Roewe 550 I mean the Chinese are making great cars too. So Ford, GM, and Chyrsler, Honda and Toyota ya better make em look that good for $10K and have a 300,000 mile/ 20 year power train warranty. All I can say is Ford you had it right the first time you intro the Taurus back in 85 now whatever you’ve done its like you’ve taken stupid pills or something lmao
