Ford designer helps with “Extreme Makeover”

Ford GT Chief Designer Camilo Pardo returned to his hometown of Queens, N.Y., to deliver a supercar-themed bedroom for one member of the nine-person Peter family, who emigrated from Guyana and struggled to make a new home in America. The project was part of ABC’s May 7th Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. In the show, Pardo helps install and customize a print from his art collection on 21-year-old Monesh Peter’s bedroom walls. “If I would have had a room like that when I was young with my goal of becoming a car designer, it would have been amazing,” said Pardo. The bedroom was also customized with seats from a Ford GT and a hood from the car. “Monesh and I share the same passion for fast, beautiful cars – and hopefully this room will remind him every day that his dreams of designing cars might become a reality.” To provide a further inspiration, Ford and Pardo’s alma mater – the College of Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit – surprised Monesh by offering him a trip to visit the CCS campus this fall and preview its renowned design transportation program.
