Take CR. They say they’re unbiased. They mean that in the fact that they’ll buy the cars like any average joe and not sell out for their recommended picks, but in terms of review they absolutely have their biases. They’re clearly biased towards safety and reliability, while a mag like Motor Trend is much interested in performance. Not that either are bad, but the simple fact is that they are biases.

Now TTAC, you can tell that they hate the General…the Death Watch should be a hint. It’s one thing to have a pessimistic outlook on something; it’s another to take every bit of news and turn it into a “GM is dying” diatribe. You’ll also note that they never say “Fusion” without first saying “Hecho en Mexico”. And you can tell they have a bias towards performance too…I mean, condemning the Aura for poor handling at high speeds? Come on, it’s a family car that’s gonna be driven by families in neighborhoods.

Like I said, I love TTAC and I do read CR as well. But calling either one unbiased is erroneous.

But for once, I don’t think them disliking the Edge is any part of a “Ford Bias,” it’s simply a car that’s been done badly. And if you want to see a positive ford review, simply look at the Fusion.

Better engine and styling excluded, I suppose.

CR puts up cheaper vehicles against more expensive ones?

You mean how many domestic autos list at insanely low prices vs moderately priced imports? Are we taking into considering the standard features that come on those higher priced cars? You know, the ones you have to pay for on those domestics such as Ford?

Keep those excuses coming guys.

And for the record, I love the Edge, Fusion, and all the other ‘heads finally out of their asses’ designs that Ford is FINALLY putting on the table.

As for the Edge-bashing… of COURSE CR low-ranks Fords… it’s what their sensible, “rational,” Asian-car-worshiping readership expects, and CR knows better than to contradict them.

But note that the buff mags slammed the Edge too on release. I was semi-interested in it until I read the Car & Driver coverage… the Edge was characterized as heavy, slow, dull, overpriced, and cheaply kitted out on the inside. So it’s not just the dweebs at CR.

They have NOTHING to gain by doing anything other than providing a fair opinion/evaluation be it toaster or automobile. Just because YOU don’t agree with their analysis does not mean that there is some kind of conspiracy. Their magazine sells on the QUALITY of their product, just like the automobiles they review. If their analysis was so far of base, how could they stay in business?

Unlike CR, all the major enthusiast rags review manufactuer preped vehicles and are ad supported by the manufactuers of the very products they critique. Why don’t you start your crying with them first?

They recommend a new model but ignore the old trash transmission and bad engine still used in the new model.

Ford really needs to release the interceptor, trash the upcoming focus and build another one at least on par with mazda’s 3, bring the mondeo over, put a small inline 6 diesel in the F-150, release the Flex early, Re-tool the taurus and X to look more agressive, make an svt version of the Fusion, Taurus focus, sport trac, F-150.

Honestly, the Edge is everything that’s pushing Ford out of being relevant… it’s too small inside, too heavy on the scales and too ugly for words. I wonder where the Mazda CX-9 is on the scale?

I’m sure if I look out my window I’ll see pigs flying….right……right.
