The face modification is quite nice but I must add that it has been done before. Say, for example, the now more fluid headlight and grill treatment is a copy of the 2005 Toyota FT-SX (which eventually became the production Venza)!

bghewy you know what they say the only time you really fail is when you give up. Honestly Mulally listens to his customers. I used to love our Big Boat Ford LTD's but they simply don't sell anymore in appreciable volume as they did back in the 60's and early 1970's and hey you know something I had no idea Ford of Australia had a Ford LTD all their very own and unique to Australia.
The only thing I tell you is that Mulally must of heard some of the things I have said and numerous Ford consumers. Yes I would like to see Ford Import some Ford of Australia Product to help spice things up a little here!

Yes please petitioning Alan Mulally about Aussie's Ford Falcon, and we have heard in the news how the Australians have howled at Ford for the Falcon. Well then let it be known you don't want to let it go.
I think it gives Ford a taste of being more Global if they keep it.

I agree as its been a staple to the Australian market.
Well as you Australians would probably say to me. Mate you need to tell Allan Mulally you want to keep the Falcon in Australia and tell him that the Falcon is to Australia the way the Ford Mustang is to Americans just like that. We Love our Ford Falcon the way you Americans have romanced the history making Ford Mustang; then you have at least touched on a Nerve to Mulally. I think he's a fair man.
bghewy. The only shots you miss in life (mate as you Aussies would say) are the ones you don't take.

Yeah well Toyota has take a good hit now worldwide with Brake and Accelerator issues in many vehicles. I think, Wall Street Analysts think, the critics think, and many investor think Ford future product strategy is brillant. But I am a firm believer it can always be better. Many of these products are coming by way of Europe as they have had a much freer flowing hand and taking Ford to new levels of advancement. Hey I feel that way about Ford all over the Globe. And I think that is a way to let both Mulally and Bill Ford know what side their bread is buttered on. Australia is very important to Ford.
You simply go to Ford's site and email under general comments directly to Mulally.
Best of Luck and I would love to drive an Australian Built Ford Falcon FPE/XR8 and go beat the stuffings out of the New Buick Regal or Cadillac CTS-V

In terms of importing the Falcon to the US with recent talks between governments and Free trade agreements the tax levels should be reasonable; not to mention that you guys pay less for a Pontiac G8 than what we would for a similarly speced Holden Commodore, even after you take into account the exchange rate. Now I agree about petitioning Alan about Falcon and its importance to the Australian market, but in the end just like all decisions that have been made by Ford lately, it will no doubt be made without taking into consideration what the actual consumer wants. I know he has driven Falcon and liked what he drove, but that is as far as its gone. GM Holden certainly has a better rep here than GM does in the states and there is an article on Ford tomorrow night on one of our current affair programs about problems with the Ford Territory that Ford refuses to acknowledge and recall. That again gets back to not listening to consumers. Talk soon guys. Oh and Toyota was again the top selling brand here last year, but the Holden Commodore was the top selling model. 12 years running.

"And The only problem I see with bringing the Ford Falcon over is that now it will compete directly with the Ford Taurus and the Taurus SHO(W)"

And that's a problem? The biggest problem with the Falcon is that it's a great car inside and out...and that is something Ford USA will never sell.

The Taurus SHO(W) is a joke...even before you compare it to the Falcon.

The Falcon is a proper sport sedan. The SHO(W) is a Camry-bland, throw away appliance...again, like all the new Fords.

Ford has lost all ability to build a nice vehicle that rides well, handles well, is reliable, good looking, and a quality product. Instead they are quickly becoming America's Toyota.

DrFill

What are you talking about? I don't think the 4Runner has anything to do with the Edge either. I was responding to someone else's post who compared them.

Again, you aren't even reading the posts.

Those recalls must have made you more testy than usual.

at first I wasnt sure about the looks, but when I saw it on the road, I thought it was okay. Very futuristicky looking... good choice on putting a forced induction 4 in there! Goooo turbos! Now if it could just have a nice v6 turbo diesel...

The 4Runner has zero to do with the Edge

I can only stomach a couple of your sentences
It's not a matter of comprehension
You guys' amount of insight gives me indigestion

DrFill

He was talking about styling, and in that sense, the 4 Runner is a loser...
...as-is every Toyota save for the Venza, which - ironically - is a crossover.

I guess the fact that you can't read shows your ignorance. But since I did
actually read your post, I would concur the 4Runner would eat any crossover
for lunch on some (fantasy) off-road venture...as if.

And you clearly are also in the minority...the grille is the best thing about the new Edge.

I have to say that the EDGE is one of the best looking CUVs out there to me. Looks good with some 22s on it, too. This new front end looks good but I'm not quite sold on the total visual package. The new front end works but the rest of the details don't go with the new front end very well. It's a case of just changing one area and not doing the whole thing. Still the overall shape and design are much better than most. I think only GM really gets it right in a similarly balanced way But again FORD should have done some work on the rear as well.

I do like the blacked out grill for the sport model, though.

@The_Realist,

If you are going to flame try not to jump straight into incredulous statements that no one needs to argue over and no one would support because they are just insanely wrong or stupid. It's like you want to play and you don't know how to ask. You are no DrFill, LeftWingAgenda, or Bankruptcy2009 to name a few and you never will be being that lame or... what is it you kids throw around these days... gay.

DrFill - 4Runners aren't bought by men. They aren't bought by anyone anymore period. I really don't even see them anymore, since the new one came out I've only seen one. People just aren't interested in body on frame SUVs anymore. Alot of the 4Runners went byebye with the Cash for Clunkers.

It really is a shame that Ford has lost all ability to build competent, desirable, good looking vehicles.

This Edge is hideous (and still very unneeded and useless). The interior is Camry bland, and the exterior is just a "design" disaster. That grille...what were they thinking?

Once again, Ford takes an incredibly ugly vehicle and makes it uglier. I swear they are on a mission to build the most ugly vehicles of any manufacturer.

It's time for Big Al to go if this is the junk he is going to produce.

4Runners are bought by men
Not that you would know anything about that
4Runners eat crossovers for breakfast
So keep your ignorance down to a mouse fart

Considering the overweight nature of this vehicle, and Fords in general
This is an impressive facelift
The extra thrust should help

I actually like this vehicle
The new grille is stupid, but that's a Ford thing

Wow. Very well executed...better than I expected. This isn't a "mild" refresh but rather significant...and as others have said, a much better end solution than the Terrain.

Oh and Trevor York, you are both clearly in the minority and certifiably deranged. If you prefer the 4 Runner or Scion over this, you must be a female.

i thought we all decided the murano was the #1 milf wagon? i didn't get the memo on the change, damnit, get me on that email list asap...in the edge's favor, there's a milf i work with that drives one, and i'd shack up with her in a heartbeat...

yeah, jake, i see a lot to like here in terms of numbers and design targets...reducing noise...new engines with decent economy and good power (the mustang v6? not too shabby)...some utility in the interior with that fold down passenger seat for long stuff, etc...i wish the sport had a fully blacked-out front end, more like a raptor, without that chrome strip...the key will be what the initial driving impressions are like, and then the actual tactile "knock on the door" test...

there are a lot of cars that we read thousands of words about, then see in person and think, "really? no way!" because you don't like the heft of the door, or the sound it makes when closing, or the plastics of the interior bits you knock on (because you know these are the spots where a manufacturer skimps)...that's why auto shows are nice, they let you take all that knowledge and opinion you built up online and then go climb around in one and see if reality confirms what you read...in some cases it does, in some cases not so much...i'm skeptical yet optimistic in this case...it sounds like it could work out...but we'll see...

bghewy if you really feel that way about the Ford Falcon which I understand it has quite a great reputation in Australia then write to Alan Mulally at Ford Motor headquarters in dearborn Michigan, and see what can be done. I know you Aussies love your Ford Falcon and Ford has a great history in Australia.
Don't give up the ghost on your Falcon. I would petition to Mulally that you and numerous other Aussie will purchase a Ford Falcon if he decides its in the company's best interest in doing so. But their has to be the number of sales to justify it though. Ford has alot of Great new products on the way that we in America won't get to see for another year and likewise for Australia. Trust me you don't want to go over to lowly GM's Holden divison. Yuck don't do it dude! You'll regret it.
I'm a typical American Ford Fan born and raised on Ford's, and I Love our Ford Mustang and would love to see a number of copies of the Falcon here, and bring that awesome Mustang GT500 with the All Aluminum V-8 Eng to ya producing @ least 550HP. That is what is supposedly rated for before its over it'll be at least 600HP. :) And The only problem I see with bringing the Ford Falcon over is that now it will compete directly with the Ford Taurus and the Taurus SHO. I think Ford Consumers should be able to order one and have it shipped here. I have no idea what the taxes and the shipping cost will add to the Price tag of the Falcon. But I like the Fact its 400+HP and would also whip the tail of the Pontiac GXP G8 like the Taurus SHO does with its Twin Turbo 6 cylinder. But I love the black out Grill of the Ford Falcon FPE and the Falcon XR8. One of those would do it for me!. I would look to hunt down the last of the Pontiac G8 owners and prove who is King of the Sedans! lol

It has the foglights of the Taurus, the grille is virtually the new design theme of Ford. It looks ALOT better than the one on the GMC TerraIn. Ford can pull it off. GMC not so much. The Terrain looks like a vehicle desperate for attention while this one gets the attention casually in a modern looking way. Overall it looks great. I didnt think it was gonna have the MyTouch feature though. I thought it was gonna be a luxury car thing.

Ext body is still ho-hum, though the grill is a nice improvement. Biggest leap forward is the Interior. If this is the direction of Ford interiors, I'm more likely to give them a second look.

The biggest change is the interior as for the exterior, its just a face lift and the same could be said with the engine. But despite all that, it is a very nice looking ford.

Nice job Ford. They're moving past just putting 3 plain razor blades (bar grill) on a vehicle. I like the Edge Sport more than the standard Edge in the photos but, after watching the videos I like the standard Edge more.

@A4 - I agree; this looks like it will be the face of the new Explorer too. I see the similarities with the new Edge and the Explorer Concept. Awesome.

I thought I was a MILF Hunter, but Johnny has me beat there... Awesome observations! I always look out for X5, Cayenne and Q5's for the MILFs because of what he said. The 1 out of 10 people not MILFs in them are just D-bag dudes though - very upsetting!

Leftwing - you said the Focus looked good on "paper"? You seem to be just as dissapointed as me with the actual execution on it (drum rear brakes, cheap plastic on doors)... I think the Fusion and Taurus looked good on paper too - but the Fusion especially doesn't really cut it inside. It's still very rental-like and doesn't have the same flair as does some other newer midsizers. In no way should it have been Motor Trend's COTY.

My 2 cents and I like what Ford is doing, they just need another Generation of Fusions to be a really good competitor.
