Mark Fields, the president of Ford ’s Americas group, told an audience of Jewish business leaders Wednesday that he has not encountered “one iota of discrimination” as a Jew at Ford. Company founder Henry Ford’s name has long been associated with anti-Semitism for what he saw as a world “Jewish conspiracy” in the 1920s. However, he had many Jewish friends and later apologized for his outspoken positions. “I was struck when I came to the company how inclusive they are — and we are,” Fields said. Today, another type of inclusiveness at Ford is causing the automaker some backlash, but the company seems to be sticking to its guns. Ford has bee noted for its support of the gay community, despite strong opposition from conservative Christian groups.
