Ford F-150 FX2 Sport ready for SEMA

10/03/2006, 10:18 AM

By admin

Ford will exhibit the finalized version of its F-150 FX2 Sport at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas about a month from now. The truck was first previewed in April at the New York Auto Show, and has since been revised with the guidance of the Texas Auto Writers Association, according to Ford.

A supercharger kit pushes output to “well over” 425 horsepower at the wheels, and 500 pound-feet of torque. The suspension was lowered two inches in front and five inches in the rear and combine with the prototype 20 by 10-inch Sport wheels to give the truck its aggressive stance. The 6.5-ft. bed features a lockable, hard tonneau cover and is carpeted with a Sport Liner bedliner. A Harley-Davidson pedal package and A-pillar gauge pod help dress out the interior. The 5-speed automatic transmission has been recalibrated to handle the increase in horsepower. Prototype, Brembo four-piston brakes up front, along with stock rears, provide added stopping power. PLEASE give us the Lightning concept. That truck + the 4.6 litre (check that value) supercharged engine + that instant nitrous-like shot of cold air in the gasoline intake mixture, and you’ll have a machine that would demolish the SRT.

Nice but the exterior design is a bit conservative compared to the big and bold Ford heavy duty pickups. They should put that supercharger to the Expedition and Navigator for them to compete better with the new GM offerings. The base 300hp v-8 simply will not do.

gitcypher: why the 4.6 L? The newer 5.4 L Triton is much better, IMHO.

Um… what’s the point of the car? You might as well start making mods to a Crown Vic.

Saud, there is little point to few enthusiast vehicles except for fun. Even a slow car can be fun to drive. I am as rewarded when I take a non performace car for a spin and squeeze as much as possible out of it as I am taking a performance vehicle to 8/10th’s. Driving is fun, hopped up cars just add a litte spice to the everyday norm.
