Looks just like my 2010 Lariat with Chrome Package minus the wheels and ugly tail pipe. Where would you think there's a Lariat Limited being made... ??

Dr Fill, this isn't the year to be defending Toyota on recalls....sorry

icbrowns, I have no doubt that in your area there are a lot of trucks that rarely see a load, and I too agree you will see less "weekend contractors" However that doesn't mean people are going to stop buying boats, snowmobiles, 4wheelers, motorcycles, camp trailers etc. And actual contractors, builders, landscapers, Farmers etc will not get their supplies moved to the site in Honda Fits, Civics, Prius, etc.

MGM

In my area, less than 5% of the pickup trucks tow anything. Most of the people I know, have their boats docked at the marina or at their own private boat dock. The only travel trailers being pulled are by the silver haired tourists passing through. IMO, big oversize pickups are going to be the dinosaurs of the 21st century.

Tundra is a POS copycat... It's a wannabe real truck. At least Honda made theirs different enough that you know it's not a copycat.

Toyota = boring vehicles that boring people buy!

This site is not big enough to list Ford's recall history
Didn't they coin the phrase?

Maybe if Tundra gets enough recalls
You'll think it's an F-150 and buy 2 of them

MGM...You are correct...but not even Dr Fills beloved Tundra will do that stuff either...You can't put the boat in the water or the bed might rust and fall off...thats if that camshafts didn't snap on the way down or the driveshaft...But I'm sure Dr Fill knows about those recalls too... =)

So since these trucks are "utterly useless". How do you suggest people get boats to the lake, trailers to the mountains, and supplies to the construction site???? Your Prius or Camry sure won't accomplish those tasks...

Why is Ford Truck design going backwards? It looks like Ford is not only retroing the Mustang but it is taking its ques for the design of the F150 exterior all the way back to 1996.

TD1
When you say you provide FEW facts
You are right about that
Ford's freefall continues
IF you Report the WHOLE STORY

Ford losing 20% is bigger than Toyota losing 42%
That means Ford lost more than 100,000 F-series sales
In ONE YEAR
They sold 515k in 2008

Go back even further
In 2001, Ford sold over 900k F-series
922,000 to be exact

922000 to 413000 in less than 10 years
Sounds like progress, Ford style

Toyota Camry WILL OUTSELL F-series in 2010
If Ford's freefall continues
One of the reason for Ford top go back to it's best crutch
Fleet sales?
1/3 of F-series sales are fleet
One in ten Camrys are fleet

Camry has gone from 500k sales behind
To only 65k behind
In actual retail sales, Camry is America's best right now
There's a new sheriff in town
And his name is Toyota Camry

Just throwing out a few facts here about sales since Dr.Fill said F-Series sales were "free falling.

Total 2009 Truck Sales:
Ford 413,625 -19.8%
Chevy 316,544 -31.9%
Dodge 177,268 -28.0%
Toyota 79,385 -42.2%

Who is "free falling" again?

And Leftwingagenda, wouldn't a 5 passenger car hauling one person be "inefficiently hauling people" too then? -just sayin'.....

Johnny, we have to mark this day in history, it is apparent that we both agreed with Lefty. I actually totally with him (or my Lord I'm turning fvcking communist and turning my back on my Savior, the Jewish Guy). I see absolutely no reason for those luxurious, super expensive, poorly handling dinosaurs to roam the earth, but meteorite did not hit us yet for them to go away.

You know what part of the problem is leftwing? Take a look at most of the modern subdivisions in our part of the world... where the hell do you park anything? Your 2,750 square foot box with the standard government issue two car garage is literally within pissing distance of your neighbor's virtually identical 2,750 square foot box and there's usually exactly enough length between the front of the garage and the street curb to park one more vehicle. Therefore in most cases you have a maximum of four spots without resorting to parking on the street. Now if both my brother-in-laws are anything to go by between them they have 5 garage spots and exactly one car taking up those 5 spaces because of all the crap taking up the rest of the space. And that one car is a Camaro "project" car that I fully expect to be roadworthy about the time new Camaros are eligible for Collector's plates.

Now what the hell were we talking about? Oh yeah... your comment that it's rare to see trucks used as trucks. So besides having barely enough space to park the truck and something else, when you factor in what a new truck costs to purchase, maintain and insure it's no wonder they're so many people's primary- and only- mode of transportation. They are handy as hell when you do need 'em. Try hauling home a yard of gravel in the back of your Edge.

most people buy these to haul stuff and do work? i guess so...but just how many miles of a typical pick up truck's life are spent hauling and towing? i'd bet a minority...sure, you may need one to pull the boat out of the lake in summertime, or whatever, but if you look at pick ups you pass on the highway, most of them are just hauling people...inefficiently hauling people...

You weak little troll, you.
Oh, and the 6.2 will be available in every
model but the XL, so you won't need to pay
$40k to kick the crap out of every other

"The F150 is the best of the “brick shaped appliances” bar none."

Bar none? Is that why the reskinned 2009 F-150 loses to the 2007 Silverado and 2007 Tundra when put to actual truck work?

The Ford F-150 is one the most capable and refined trucks in the market. People always use the old lame "it's too weak" excuse to put it down. It also has one of the quietest interiors (if not the quiestest) in the market and the ride quality is only behind the Dodge ram which has coil springs. The F-150 delivers on everything a customer is interested in and that's one of the reasons it's been the best-selling nameplate in the market. If you really think having an undepowered engine makes it lackluster, quite frankly, just shoot yourself.

Borat trucks are built for pulling, towing, and off-road capabilities. It needs a strong frame and a powerful engine, it's not going to get as good of gas mileage as a car. Most people buy trucks if they need to haul things or for work. The Realist what makes Ford America's favorite appliance maker when they have the Mustang GT with 412 hp, GT500 with 540, twin-turbo Taurus SHO, SVT Raptor, capable and powerful trucks, and crazy technology and entertainment features coming out lately. They also are tied for first place in America for the highest safety ratings. Toyota doesn't have a fun or powerful car, has a truck but fell behind the competition. Honda doesn't have a fun/powerful car or even a real truck.

Its amazing that someone named "The Realist" lives in Lala Land.

Put an F150 side by side with any Dodge, Chevy, Toyota, you name it, of comparable model...compare towing, hauling, interior space, noise levels and the Ford always at the top. The biggest thing for me is the frame. By far Ford has the stiffest, strongest frame on the market. Believe it or not, the Dodge has the second strongest now with the Chevy a close third...and the Tundra??? Lol...things a wet noodle...how does one even put the Tundra in the same class with such a flacid frame. Wanna know what that thing is going to sound like after a few years of real towing and hauling??? Take an empty coffee can, throw in a few coins and rattle that baby around...there ya have it! The only thing the F150 really lacked was a motor. Thats coming now. I will say, the 5.4 is decent...but in todays market against the Hemi's and 6.0's it feels weak. If there was no competition, it would be fine. =)

Dr Fullofit:

And what motors in Toyotas are worth it at ANY price?? Whats that??? I'm sorry I can't hear you?? Oh the Tundra motor that snaps camshafts??? No, not that one either. Still waiting...

Looks like the only way to get an engine worth a damn out of Ford
Is to pay them $40-50k
And tie it to something fat and overweight
Not going to do much for the F-series' freefalling sales

MHW - I see what you're saying but no car ever won over the hearts and pocket books of a wide audience by winning shootouts. For the same reason the Honda accord and Ford Mustang have been been huge sellers. They may not be the most powerful, or have the best handling, but they mix it all in together, and they are just great cars to own.
That's the f-150 mantra. Synergy at its finest. Enough power, enough room, enough towing, good mileage, good reliability. 33 years as #1 Thank you Ford for making me proud to be an American

I agree with some points made by The Realist. Yes the F-150 is a nice enough truck (as long as you don't get smacked by the airbag) The F-150 is in fact an over-hyped truck. I have read many different shootouts and the F-150 is just another option among a field of strong competitors. In reality other than the Raptor which has no competitors the F-150 wins very few shootouts.

In reality other than the Raptor which has no competitors the F-150 wins very few shootouts.

The F150 is the best of the “brick shaped appliances” bar none. Anyone that does an honest comparison will come to the same conclusion.

Johnny- Just have to give you props. Your Canadian wit is appreciated.

Realist- Wow, why all the hate? The f150 is propably the most manly looking of all the "brick shaped appliances" as others have said. Interior quality and comfort is top notch as is build quality. Are you one of those "it can't be good if it isn't foreign" people or are you a GM guy?

More useless appliances form Americas favorite appliance maker.

I really doubt this truck could get any uglier. Of course, having said that, Ford will prove me wrong.

The F-150 is the most over-hyped, exaggerated, over-promising, under delivering truck on the market.
