Ford ’s F-150 SVT Raptor off road race-style pickup has been on sale for nearly half a year, but the automaker’s highest-performance model debuting its new 6.2-liter, 411-horsepower V8 has just now gone on sale.
Ford says that nearly half of the 7,000 Raptor orders it recorded were for the 6.2-liter V8, although the automaker announced this morning that the first so-equipped Raptor was delivered to NASCAR driver Greg Biffle.
About 3,000 orders have been placed so far for the F-150 SVT Raptor equipped with the 6.2-liter V8. The automaker’s 5.4-liter Triton V8 remains standard equipment with the 6.2 as a $3,000 option. Both engines are mated exclusively to six-speed automatic transmissions.
