"

ihustle - your facts are wrong. Look up the facts for yourself. It's not hard to look at specifications to determine what best in class is.

Why are Ford fanboys always so ignorant? Is Ford paying you anything to be a fanboy?

02* this is the first year ford lost that title. The f-150 isnt even in the same categorie as a camry. Its like comparing apples and oranges. Its sad that a truck has consistently beat crappy cars. Theres a reason FORD has the best truck. Sales prove it. Thanks for trying though :)

I will say it again. FORD back away from the trucks!

The F-100 is the best idea FORD had for their truck line in decades. Too bad DODGE had it first.

Go back the to "aerotruck" of the 1990's but maybe a bit tougher looking. FORD had the best aerodynamics in the 1990's that only a few Japanese companies were better. Make the truck lighter.

But in the end, FORD STEP AWAY FROM THE TRUCKS!!!!

BTW, 02WRXPSM (#19),

The FORD F-150 was AMERICA's best selling vehicle (key word "was"). The FORD F-series was one of the best selling vehicles in the world. FORD has always been careful to make that point, if not always clearly.

But why waste energy beating or propping up a "dead horse"?

02WRXPSM, good commentary, but I already gave up to convince Ford salesman that there are other choices. I don't know if you remember, but there there was need-for-oil-for-gm and 19XX-gm salesman on this site and they were equally retarded and entertaining. After all, to sell to retards you do need similar sales force.

You deliberately misunderstand, because it suits your extremely limited capacity to reason. Let me make it clearer for you: the McDonalds hamburger does not sell the best because it is the best, nor because it tastes the best; it sells because it is CHEAP and HEAVILY ADVERTISED, and it sells regardless of how crappy the ingredients are.

Let’s look at this for a second.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bestselling_vehicle_nameplates
The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling vehicle in the world; that’s a well-documented fact.
The “Ford F-Series” comes in second — but here’s a few details. That is ALL of the F-series combined, the 150, 250, 350 and additional builds of those models. AND, it was introduced in 1948, while the Corolla was not introduced until 1966. So, even with an 18-year head start, Ford has not caught up.
Also, let’s look at the list overall: Corolla, Golf, Beetle, Escort, Civic, Passat, Sunny
Do they all have something in common?
Yes, they are all cheap pieces of ****. Crappy, mass-produced, low-end cars.
Are we so proud to have Ford F-150 on that list now?

*02wr* If 500,000 people buy and F-150 and 200,000 buy a Silverado, obviously the overall opinion would compliment Ford. Thats a no brainer. Nice analogy though, basically stating that personal opinion rule all. That sir is a wrong statement, there are winners and losers in life. Just because you dont like the yankees, doesnt mean they havent had the most dominating sports franchise ever.

Top selling does not equal best. By that logic, the MacDonald's cheeseburger would be the finest food on earth (and clearly, it is not).

Acura RDX and the STI are both all-wheel-drive vehicles. The lack of fuel efficiency has a lot to do with the extra driveline loss and friction of driving all four wheels all the time. I happen to own both vehicles, and my RDX actually gets great mileage on the highway and still over 18mpg when I drive it around town with my foot to the floor. It definitely gets better mileage than the MDX, that one gets way below the rated mileage. As for the STI, the thing has 660cc injectors and a boxer motor, that isn't an efficiency-based setup and it never will be. It is tuned for power; you don't expect great mileage out of a 911 or Viper, why would you expect it out of an STI.

Uh, no it's not. Need I remind you the combined Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra sales which are the same truck are more than F-150 sales. The F-150 does not lead in every performance category either. The F-150 is a nice truck, but it's not a class leader in every category like you say.

Lets let Ford make the decisions. They have had the best truck for over 30 years. I dont think they would make any poor decisions regarding the topic. The 1 thing they never went wrong with is there truck. Its a class leader in every categorie.

That truck is too big and heavy for a turbo-4 to work efficiently. Boosted engines only get good fuel mileage when they are not using the boost At WOT my supercharged four eats just as much gas as a WOT V8. I could see maybe a 350hp turbo 6. Or maybe a diesel turbo 4. But not gas... no way.

You specifially had to say "inline 4"? As if Ford has a reputation for hoizontally opposed engines or something?

I agree with Johnnycanuck as well. I'm starting to fear that some automakers will begin to focus to much on how good a vehicles MPG is and not enough on driving dynamics. while a turbo 4 works well in a car and a car based CUV I just don't see it being able to generate the type of low end and mid range power that even a casual truck owner would need. I'm not even sure it could get even that great of fuel economy, heck the turbo charged 2.5 in the STI barely gets 26 mpg highway and the RDX doesnt get any better fuel economy then the MDX.

You knew this was going to happen. They're all going to focus more on beating CAFE than producing vehicles that actually work in the real world. Why do you find so many college grads busting their hump for minimum wage, because all they learned was how to pass a test.

Bad idea, and its not going to work well. Turbo 4-cylinders in heavy vehicles get lousy fuel economy - this is a fact. Look at every crossover and SUV currently powered by small 4-cylinder turbos, and they all SUCK in fuel economy. Acura RDX, Mazda CX-7 come to mind.

They would be better off tuning their smaller V-8's for better fuel economy using direct injection, 6-speed transmissions with taller overdrives, and displacement on demand.

I recall great success of Ford turbo 4 cylinders engines 25 years ago and wonder whatever happened to them?
