Where's the diesel? Hold your pants on, it's (they're) coming. Ford has been developing the new Scorpion diesel engines in-house and since getting out of its Navistar Power Stroke contract will be offering a 6.7L version in the next SD. They also have a 4.4L version in development for the F150 but that program is on hold pending fuel price changes.

ok
fords main advantage is that their cars actually LAST
chevy and dodge dont have the kind of reliability that ford has that you need with a truck
and theres already the mustang gt500 that gets more power with less displacement ide say thats already "BOSS" enough for a mustang

This sounds like a very nice engine for heavy duty applications. I hope they put an 8 speed tranny behind it. 20MPG out of a Super duty would be nice. It can be done.

although this engine is clearly a step up (more power, with less displacement, and probably a notch up in fuel economy) for Ford, idrinorbarsaku is on the right track, if I needed a heavy duty truck to haul my stuff I would be much more interested in diesel.

LLN just can't remember how many times Chrysler and Ford leap frog each other.

"The 6.2-liter engine will be more powerful, more refined and more efficient than the relatively weak 367-horsepower 6.8-liter Triton V10 currently offered in the Super Duty."

That is a stupid comment. Back in 1994, Dodge came out with an 8.0L V10 that put out 300hp. Guess what? Later on, Ford made a 6.8L V10 that made 300HP too. Now who looked weak?

Currently, Dodge has the advantage, and Ford doesn't. Doesn't seem to made a shred of difference; people buy Super Duty trucks in mass while Dodge's HD truck is seen every blue moon in action.

I'd rather have a V10 anything than a V8. Two inline 5's forming a V10 are better than a V8; heck, anything form factor is better than a V8. The Cummins Inline 6 has got to be the best diesel setup out there for a truck.

why can't someone just make a good truck with a great diesel engine??? If I were seriously looking for a truck like this, i certainly wouldn't want it in the gas variant when diesel has more power and is more efficient

@ johnnycanuck....

The thing is Ford sets up there trucks for Towing, you don't see every day Ford trucks winning drag races. But if you buy a plug in tunner to any Ford truck you get all this hidden horse power. And that is because Ford builds there trucks with work 1st and play 2nd in mind. I have been called a Ford-fan-boy more then once, but I have seen how many customers buy Fords and how hard they use there trucks, not to say Chevy or Dodge trucks can't hod there own, they can, but for what I can see in our numbers Ford just out sells the others, and we sell more Fords for the big jobs then the others...

And if you have to ask, Penske Leasing....

Well I sell commercial trucks, and "V-10" is a dirty word, not only that I have customers that have both the Chevy's 6.2 and the Fords 6.8 and the power band is the same. And the all the trucks are WORK trucks!

Unless you are going to redo the heads and throw on a supercharger on her, It's time for the BOSS.....

Everyone says the one weakness with Ford trucks can be found under the hood. This should go a long way towards fixing that.
