A Nascar stock car gets 4 to 6 MPG, and yes that’s even the Toyota cars, that’s why the race teams calculate 5 MPG on there cars, you won’t find that any were but Hendek Motor Sports last year had it up on there wed-site, when the gas whet up that came down…and they called it “average race industry consumption of fuel” not MPG, not “fuel consumption” but “consumption of fuel”
So… 5mpg x 500 miles = 100 gallons, in one race, and 50 cars or so per race, not including, practice and qualifying, but a Hybrid car as the official NASCAR pace car, sounds good!

i can see the future…all nascars will be running on electricity…which gets energy from the track thats produces electricity and is taken to the car by a brush under the car! whats the point in this anyway?? i don’t think that nascar people want small engines, or even energy efficient cars.

You are so right Johnny of the great white north! I was looking at all the cars running in the Nationwide series finale the night before, and they were Monte’s while the Impala SS COT cars held the day at yesterday’s Sprint Cup race.

Er, at least it said it was an Impala SS!

Mark, quite frankly I find your lack of NASCAR knowledge appalling. The representative Chevy model in the Cup Series is an Impala SS, not a Monte Carlo. I mean take a close look at those cars and tell me if they were unadorned with decals and logos that you couldn’t tell the difference

It’s funny seeing the size difference of the NASCAR “COT” Camrys (and Monte Carlo, Fusion, and Dodges) to the street Fusion. It looks like the size of a Focus four-door by comparison!
