Hybrid vehicles have faced the double whammy of collapsing new car sales and sub-$2 gas, but a new round of government incentives should give Ford’s newest hybrids a nudge out of the gate. Ford’s all-new Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids now qualify for a $3,400 tax credit.
In either Ford or Mercury-guise, the hybrid sedan twins offer some serious fuel economy numbers. Both vehicles are rated at 41/36 mpg city/highway, topping the mid-size sedan segment and besting the Toyota Camry Hybrid by a significant eight mpg in the city and two mpg on the highway.

However, if you want to take advantage of the tax credit, you better hurry down to your local Ford or Mercury dealer. The $3,400 credit will be reduced to $1,700 on April 1st, before falling to $850 in October.
