Ford global marketing director leaves company

01/09/2009, 4:57 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Anne Belec, the director of global marketing for Ford Motor Company, announced that she is leaving the automaker to “pursue other interests.” Belec, whose 24 years at the Dearborn, Michigan, automaker included a three-year stint as the President and CEO of Volvo North America, had been in her current position since early 2008.

Advertising Age attained an email from Belec to her coworkers announcing her departure from Ford.

“I don’t know what the future will hold or where I will end up this time, but I have faith that my training at Ford will serve me well in a next career. The possibilities are exciting,” Belec wrote in the email.

Her attire is conservative. Her marketing is conservative. I wonder if this is a byproduct of Ford, Volvo or just her.

There’s always a story behind the story. She’s leaving in a huff after Ford refused to market Volvo exclusively to women, under the new name of “Vulva.”

I hear her interest started to wane after she lost her fight to introduce a line of tampons to go along with the Bullitt Mustang.

She is well off to be sure. But to get the job she had at Ford is great but I’d be willng to bet she came from a Wealth family to begin with to get that Title. Anyway wish her well and yea. If Retail is her thing go help Circuit City Lady.

@Mutant@DCX: The SMART, and qualified rats that can get better paying jobs elsewhere jump ships. This means that after enough downsizing cycles the only senior people left are the ones who were not worth much worth on the job market. Scary.

B.S.
They gave her the AXE! and told her to say that she’s out on her own, they just gave her a parting check, look at what she said,…

“Anne Belec, announced that she is leaving the automaker to “pursue other interests” &

“I don’t know what the future will hold or where I will end up this time”

Ford is just trimming out what’s not working for them at the time…
