If you’re into classic or collectible cars, you’re probably very familiar with the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. Today, the results came in from the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach event. Notable sales include a Ford GT Coupe, which went for $572,400, a 1947 Bentley Mark VI Coachworks by Franay that sold for $1,728,000, a 1967 Chevy Camaro Z/28 Racecar that went for $324,000, a Buick Skylark Convertible for $383,400, and a 1999 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing Replica for $243,000. A custom vehicle described as a 2006 Cadillac CTS “Coupe” sold for $110,700 (we’d love to see pictures of that one). It was reported that the first Ford GTX1 would be auctioned at the event, but no sale has been announced.

A 2005 Ford GT coupe for $500K +? What a joke for the buyer. I’ll agree it’s a great car — at $100K, but at $500K, it’s mediocraty.

I hope all contemporary GT owners read this June 2005 Car and Driver article regarding it’s manufacturing problems. It’s quite a farce:

At Ford, a Supercar Delivers a Super Headache

When you have that much money to blow, I imagine you don’t read consumer reports – although I have heard with ferraris you have to have two of them because one is always in the shop.
