Ford keeps 2007 Lincoln Navigator pricing low

08/04/2006, 2:54 PM

By admin

Like the 2007 Ford Expedition, the new Lincoln Navigator will hit dealer lots with a significantly lower price tag than its predecessor. Ford today announced base model prices for the luxury SUV will range from $46,575 to $51,475 — an average of $4,100 less than the previous-generation 2006 models. The all-new Navigator L will be available at $3,000 above ($49,575) the price of the standard Navigator ($46,575). Customers also can opt for 4×4 capability for an additional $2,900, available in both arrays for Navigator and Navigator L.

Why don’t they just give potential customers a voucher for an Escalade and be done with it?

I don’t usually like to jump out and say a car is ugly. Usually, when I get that feeling, the cars tend to grow on me after a while.
I’ve seen this new Navigator in person a couple of times (one of the benefits of living in the Motor City) and I will break my rule and say that is one UGLY truck!!

This is not part of Ford’s Way Forward plan, is it?

Whats with the huge slab of chrome that’s not part of the grille?
I remember when the Navigator was the vehicle of choice for football stars, how did Lincoln lose that market to Cadillac?

I don’t know what that video has to do with the navigator but it seems like the problem at the corner has more to do with…

1. Wet streets.
2. Idiot drivers going to fast.
3. Idiot drivers that do not know how to turn into a skid.

Foster, Yeah, there is NO love for Ford on LLN. There are three kinds of people on LLN: The open minded ones who like cars and don’t care too much about the brands. There’s the GM freaks who make stupid remarks about how a Cobalt is better than a Mercedes, etc. Then, there’s the Import lovers who will not look at anything Made in America.

Of course, Ford hasn’t been doing much lately to gain any love. I’ve seen pictures of the new Navigator on other sites and they didn’t look half bad (I would give names, but the last time I did that, my comment was removed. I guess LLN doesn’t want anyone to know about other car blogs). I think this is going to be one that some people love at the start, some people will have the design grow on them, and the rest will hate.

Ok

About ford proven they’ve been ripping ppl off for the older generation, that isnt necessarly true. The older Nav was heavily discounted for few yrs, more over switching to an all new design is a big chance to cut cost down. The new camry’s enginer cost 50% less and toyota didnt drop the price down and no one seem to care.

About the car looks, I think some pro-ford and pro-disntictive ugliness might be able to accept the new front end of the car and honestly its growing on me. HOWEVER, there is no excuse for the hidious back-end of this car. You guys have to see to believe. Cutting and pasting the zypher’s tail lights with a worse design on the corner is unforgiven act for ford design team. Its more than being just lazy.

I know that Sean but I still stand by my other statements. If you know how to drive a RWD car you are not going to do that and actually a FWD car on slick roads with rear tires that are a little worn will spin out more easily then a RWD car.

The majority of people do not know how to drive at all let alone drive a RWD car or even worse a RWD car with no electronic aids.

Hell driving any cars without electronic aids is a problem for most people now. Like our 59 Rover we have for display I start it up and people look at me like what is a CHOKE? Why do you have to wait 10 minutes for it to warm up? What is double clutching? What do you mean it has no power steering or Power brakes? Manual overdrive what is that? What are synchros and why does this not have any?

(i’m not a racist i’m a realist… i don’t hate black people i just tell it how it is… and that is true love)

Nice that the price will be lower, bad that the new Navigator looks like crap. I have been a Navigator fan since it came out, and now I think I will switch to the Escalade boat. I always believed the 2003-2006 Navigator was better than the 2002-2006 Escalade, but the redesigned Escalade is better by leaps and bounds, mainly due to the monster engine thats its packing. The Navigator still has only 300hp, and it probably feels like a turtle. The Navigator L should feel even slower, yuck.

The Navigator brochure claims “uncompromised luxury” as well as making other statements to make one feel they are really getting something fully-equipped and up-to-date. Yet look at what’s lacking: no auto-up/down power windows except for the driver; no LED stop lights, not even the center lamp; no rain-sensing wipers even as an option; no red lights or even reflectors on the doors to warn approaching vehicles of an open door (removed in ‘05); no locking glove box (removed in ‘06). Lincoln continues to remove safety and convenience features to lower price, while still trying to appeal to luxury buyers.

I am not fooled. My “05 Navigator lease is up in January, and I will not get another Ford product.

I still say that this is another case of “Retro styling” going the way of the other direction. The grille surely mimics the design of the chrome grilles of past Lincoln models. Same Retro sickness that plagued Jaguar sedans seems to grow into an epidemic in the Ford global styling studios.

Do they actually pay designers to come up with these things or is this the result of rampant crystal meth use?

Ford in general, and Lincoln in particular need to get out of their offices and see what people are ACTUALLY buying and driving!

(Hint: not ALL of us are driving SUV’s either……)

Lincoln (and Merc) should totally be dropped they are nothing but total copies of each other. This SUV is not by any means good looking, the designers tried to put some retro into the front with the grills but it doesn’t go good with this car, especially with the bottom grill.
It is true buy American, buy Honda, Toyota, BMW, Nissan and buy Mexican if you like GM or Ford. All of those Foreign car manufacturers have plants throughout America, while GM and Ford are moving out and moving plants to Mexico. ALso they play a vital roll in the economy, hiring American workers and I believe their traded on Wallstreet (tell me if I’m wrong as I am not an expert on economy)
ANYWAYS lets keep on topic this is an ugly SUV plain and simple. Lincoln is sadly just a copy of Ford. It is no longer the Lincoln it used to be

Anonymous, once again you are on the forum, doing what you enjoy doing, just pissing people off. Profits from import car companys in this country whom manufacture do a great job of giving jobs to blue collar America, but the majority of profits go to their country of orgin and ditto for American Companies producing vehicles in forign countries. Anonymous, get a job, get off your Mom, load up the 88 Hyundai with the few things you probably own and quit hangin out in front of the Junior high. You are a retarded clueless idiot.
